Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

My 25 year old son and I both think this show is great. It needs a regular time slot so we can find it. But please don’t put it on Monday nights up against “Chuck”. Both Wednesday and Friday nights have lousy line-ups across the networks. Either of those nights would be great. Once the “Idol” season has ended, it could take that time slot back on Wednesdays.
I like the development of characters in this season.
Give it a good, consistent time slot and let it build a fan base.
how can fox expect to get any ratings when they move this show around so much. I enjoy watching this show, but half the time can’t find it because they keep shuffling it around. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled, but leave it in the same time slot and night!
Missed Episodes? Hulu.com does have them with limited advertising. At least nothing is missed this way and new viewers can start from the beginning. Personalities seem to be more enhanced and defined in season two. Every episode seems to remove another layer of character personality that the viewer can associate with.
Human Target is one of my favorite shows! Please don’t cancel it! Give it a consistent time slot to build up a base. House and Human Target on Monday nights sounds like a winner to me.
This series has a humorous side to it, making it a fun watch. Fox can’t expect to have a solid following if it keeps disrupting its scheduling. Perhaps if you went back to the first season original type of story lines, which had less personal interest stories, and more exciting escapades, viewership would increase. In any case, I love the show and would really hate to see Fox cancel it.
My son and I waited diligently for this new season. This is one of the best shows on TV. It has all the elements and emotions a show could have. Please bring it back and quit changing it around, missed a show and now have to find and download so as to keep up.
My Husband & I both love this show but have a hard time keeping up with the schedule because it gets bumped constantly. FOX could have a winner here if they would only give it a stable time slot and let people get to know the show. The characters are great and it so full of action without be gruesome. What is wrong with you people @ FOX?
We don’t want to see this show go off the schedule.
This show is as good as 24!! Give it a decent timeslot and it will be a hit!!! We look forward to this show each week!!
This is a great show, please don’t cancel!!!!!
If you sent watching this show your missing out! I wouldn’t do thing with it it is a very exciting show .Give it the proper lead-in and it will do fine
I agree with Anita. If you would quit bouncing the show to different days and times you will get a more solid audience. When I first started watching, I caught only a couple of episodes. Then it was off the air for most of the summer. I was thrilled to see it come back, then it disappeared again. How do you expect to get a fan base?
It’s a great show! Give it a chance, with a consistent schedule….every show has to build up a following. There is so much competition out there (and much of it doesn’t hold a candle to the Human Target story lines) that it is much more difficult to get a footing with just a few episodes. Let’s not be too quick to snap our fingers and see how a whole – consistent – season will do.
Please do not cancel this show; because it is one of my favorite to watch this fun action show. I think in my opinion, it would be better to keep the original actors as the first seasons or it needs to have a better script like the first season. The first season was great! It is great to watch!
Thank you all!
