They’ve really pulled out all the stops for the season finale of FOX’s Human Target. Of course, they have to since there’s no guarantee that the series will be back next season. But, even if you haven’t watched the series before, hearing that the Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors, will be a guest star, should have action fans tuning in to take a look.
Human Target premiered in January and stars Mark Valley as Christopher Chance. He’s a bodyguard of sorts, but instead of just throwing his body in front of his clients, he completely integrates himself into their lives, to become the target of whoever wants his clients dead. Winston and Guerrero (Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley) are his business associate and hired gun.
A few weeks ago on Human Target we were given a glimpse into Chance’s mysterious past and we discovered how he started working with Winston and Guerrero. Lennie James played his former partner, Baptiste, who is considered “the best assassin out there.” Valley admits, “I think he kicked my ass to be honest with you… I feel like the audience is rooting for Chance to kick his ass next time.”

Next time? Yep, Baptiste is back, and Chance is going to get some help from Lee Majors, who plays his former mentor. The casting turned out to be a dream come true for Valley. He’s a big fan of Majors and said of working with the former star of The Six Million Dollar Man, “The little boy in me was tearing around the house, screaming at the top of his lungs… Inside I was like [mouth opened wide], Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!” Majors could see that Valley was moved and got a chuckle out of it.
Valley wasn’t the only one with admiration for Majors. The more eloquent McBride, who worked with him previously on The Brothers Solomon, admires the veteran actor for his long history in the business, and said, “You get to hear him talk about television, and he’s been around for a long time, you know, from Big Valley to Six Million Dollar Man, and you’ve got so much stuff in between.”
McBride also admires Majors for having been married to Farrah Fawcett, along with his work acumen. “The guy was actually standing in for himself between setups and stuff like that… I wish more younger people especially would get an opportunity to work with people like that.”
As devoted fans know, Human Target has not been renewed for next season and it appears the network is still on the fence. The ratings have been okay for this season; not bad and not great. Considering the fact that FOX has cancelled 24, it seems likely that the network will take a chance (no pun intended) and bring it back next season. We’ll know for sure by mid-May.
What do you think? Should Human Target come back for a second season? If so, would you like to see Majors again?

I definately agree with many of the positive comments in regards to the show. Its funny that the show macguyver was mentioned numerous times, when telling friends and family about the show and that they too should check it out, I have stated that Human Target is like a modern Macguyver with a twist. I thoroughly enjoy the show, with all the action, beautiful woman, great acting, plots, story lines and even down to how the show kicks off before a classy kinda begining credits. I definately would love to see the show come back and would be very disappointed… Read more »
I would LOVE to see this show renewed – great characters!!! I could do without the totally unrealistic action, but at least it was kept to a minimum.
Great show, I missed the first couple of episodes but it didn’t take long to catch on. Looking forward to season 2!
Please re-new it!
yes it shoud come back. Its awesome I love the story line and I wanna know what happens. Oh and ps Chance should get with emma Barnes
FOX hasn’t given the show a chance. While FOX has given other shows repeat screenings, it has not done so with Human Target. Had to watch the show on the internet. Best show of the year. The cast is fabulous, great story lines, enjoy the transitions of the characters, the sense humor, the fast pace. Hope to see it again next year.
Seriously, Fox you need to keep this show on the air. The acting is phenomenal, the characters are fun and inviting, and there is enough action to keep even an old Marine sated, while being a show I can watch with my young children at the same time. Watching this show I found myself doing something I haven’t in a long time, watching T.V. again, instead of doing something else. Reminded me of growing up and watching MacGuyver all the time. I’m really hoping to see this show on the air, hell I was disappointed when I skipped the gym… Read more »
I boycott Fox if they cancel Human Target!
Bring it back. It’s been good.
Yes. Keep this show on. It is absolutely my favorite.
I don’t have a whole lot to add that the other people haven’t already said. This is my absolute favorite show this spring – and I am quite disappointed the season was such a short run. I truly hope “Human Target” is picked up for a full run next year, and like Jennifer said, this target hits my demographic perfectly. Action, witty dialogue, and intelligent plot lines. It’s what we grew up with, and miss. With PVRs, Netflix and a plethora of cable channels… for me to look forward to watching this show is something the network should pay attention… Read more »
Absolutely! This is a great series. I’m getting pretty fed up with networks canceling great shows for whatever reason. Hope this isn’t another one.
YES. This show is simply fun. Good cast, plenty of action and good dialogue. GREAT show.
Yes! Renew this show. I do not watch network tv. Ever. You cancelled Dark Angel and lost me for a decade. But I accidentally watched Human Target one night and fell in love. I’ve watched every episode since. Do you know why? It’s because it reminds me of the tv shows I grew up with. And let me tell you something, FOX, do not ignore my demographic. We have enough disposable income to get cable instead, and watch quality series like “Treme” and “Entourage” and “Flight of the Concords” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” If you want our demographic back, you’ll… Read more »
This had a little bit of a slow start but got better with every minute of air time. I would love to see Human Target picked up for a full season. Mark Valley is perfect as Chance and we haven’t seen enough of his story yet.
