Over the past few years, lots of Friday night sitcoms have been cancelled by ABC — shows like Cristela, The Neighbors, and Malibu Country — but Last Man Standing has survived. Will this Tim Allen sitcom hold up in the ratings and survive to see a sixth season? Stay tuned.
On Last Man Standing, Mike Baxter (Allen), marketing director of the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores, continues to stand his ground in a household of women. The rest of the cast includes Amanda Fuller, Christoph Sanders, Flynn Morrison, Hector Elizondo, Kaitlyn Dever, Molly Ephraim, and Nancy Travis.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/13 update: ABC has renewed this series for a sixth season. Details here.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.27 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.85 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Last Man Standing TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a sixth season? How long should it run?
I watch it on reruns. Not bad, I enjoy it, but a antithesis comparison to Home Improvement. Such as 3 girls than boys. Outdoorsman rather than tools …both loved by men. He loves Halloween. But it is quality over-all.
Never ever cancel! Best show on TV right now
Best comedy show ever. Tim Allen is always fantastic. Please keep it going till he retires. He is close to Johnny Carson in a lot of ways. All other shows have murder, robots, blood, ect. This is a good family show and there is very few the entire family can watch together.
One of the best comedy sitcoms on TV. Tim Allen is a stand out. Laughter is what we need in today’s world.
This show definitely went downhill, as evidenced by the ratings, when the character of Kristin was replaced on the second season, and also Ryan’s character. They are both soooo annoying! I watch the show for 2 major reasons:I am. big Tim Allen fan, and I enjoy the character of Eve. The character of Ed is pretty good also.
My husband and very much injoyed the show, very funny and entertaining, great cast, also we have promoted this show to friends and family, they all had positive reaction, enjoyed the show. We are all sad that it is no longer going towards lots more episodes. We feel that this show deserves to have a mother chance. Please bring this show back. Sincerly Dan andJulie and many more viewers
My family does not watch TV.
EXCEPT for Last Man Standing. Great cast, entertaining. I first found it on CMT, but refuse to watch on that channel due to the offensive commercials. Thank goodness LMS is on Hallmark channel. Eventually we will own the whole series.
Best sitcom, love the show.ABC do America a favor and keep this show for as long Tim and the rest of the cast want to.
Glad to hear it will be returning this fall. Hope it gets back the political banter. I missed it last season. Don’t care for the political correctness crap.
This is the best sitcom on the air. Great cast. Love the political digs! Sitcom by far passes all the other ones on the air. Can’t wait until it is back on the air. Kudos to the writers!
Corny garbage!
My husband and I think this is a wonderful show. We are extremely happy that the show was renewed!! We enjoy the fact that the show makes us laugh so often – laughter is the best medicine.!! Great story lines.
It is by far the best comedy on TV. I still haven’t figured out why ABC Gary said in the Friday night slot. Probably because ABC you so ultra-liberal Network and Tim Allen is not. That just shows how good this series is when it can maintain its ratings on one of the worst nights of the week.
So happy to hear LMS has been renewed for a 6th season by ABC. Like many others, I stumbled across it on the Hallmark Channel and watch the reruns nightly there. I didn’t even know this show was on ABC on Friday nights until I read this blog. It is one of the funniest shows on TV. Great writing, great show! Thanks for renewing, ABC.
I have not seen this series till recently. Very surprised how funny it is. Wish I had seen it from the start. Hope it’s around for a while. Great cast. Feels real. Good line subjects. Makes me laugh. Good job. Great writers.
