The FOX network has decided not to order additional episodes of Lie to Me. Production will be halted next month, leaving the season total at 13 installments. Is the show essentially cancelled?
While a move like this is never a positive sign, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Lie to Me is finished. FOX has been using the series as a utility player and could potentially order more episodes at a later date for a summer run.
However, Lie to Me’s ratings haven’t exactly been stellar. The seven episodes that have aired thus far this season have averaged just a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.42 million viewers. It’s consistently ranked either third or fourth in its Monday night timeslot, losing a significant amount of the lead-in audience from House. In the demo, it’s the ninth most-watched program on the network, ranking just below struggling Fringe.
It probably doesn’t help that executive producer Shawn Ryan left to run his own show, The Chicago Code, which is set to debut on FOX in January.
Original episodes of Lie to Me return next month and are set to finish airing by January 31st. The decision to either renew or cancel the series will likely come down to how confident the FOX execs are in what they have in the pipeline.
What do you think? Will Lie to Me be cancelled or will the network order more episodes? What would you do?

“Lie to Me” was a thought inspiring show with good acting and plausible stories. Unfortunately, FOX replaced this show with “Chicago Code” where both the acting (except for the city councilman bad guy) and stories are childish at best. Sad day for television when a vehicle like “Chicago Code” replaces one like “Lie to Me”. Sad day for me …
I’m going to be so ticked off if Lie To Me is cancelled or doesn’t put up more episodes!
I WANT MORE
Ok, they are hitting a dead end because they are not thinking outside of the box. Merge it with another show for an episode or two. Have Dr. House and Lie to Me thrown together for a little while, see how well the characters interact with each other when they are so alike, but in different ways. The FBI could call him to work at the Jeffersonian with Dr. Temperance Brenan in Bones, see how her analytical mind would handle his pseudoscience, and see if she and the others could grow to respect his work. It is not the end… Read more »
We were so sorry that “Lie to me” was taken off the air. It was trully an entertaining show and will be greatly missed.
If Lie To Me is being cancelled, it’s probably because the average viewer has demonstrated his displeasure with the program by throwing his own feces at the TV.
I just got into lie to me! this sucks.
Do your ratings reflect those who watch this show on Hulu? I like Lie to Me and it offers so much more than 98% of the reality shows out there. Please renew the show.
I thought the showed started off with great potential, but at this point I’m okay with saying goodbye. This season was a complete let down.
I want Lie to Me back!!!! I LOVE this show 🙁 PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!
Another blunder by TV execs. This is a great show – very entertaining and smart. Not everyone wants to watch non-reality reality shows that just dumb down the viewing public.
Bring back Lie to Me!
Ok FOX listen up, this is a great show do not cancel it! Its ridiculous you would even consider it.
PLEEEASE Bring it back.
HOW CAN THEY TAKE A GREAT SHOW OFF THE AIR WHEN THERE ARE SO FEW, I SAY FEW DECENT SHOWS ON T.V. TO WATCH. THERE ARE SOME WATCHERS OUT HERE WHO ARE OVER 16 YEARS OLD.
I am not happy, Fox. Lie to me is a though provoking show.
Leave Lie to me on!!!!!! I’m waiting for new episodes!!!
