TV show description:
A dramedy from showrunner Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the Love Is ___ TV show is inspired by the real lives of its executive producers. The story explores how a modern “power couple” balances their professional, personal, and family lives.
As movers and shakers in “Black Hollywood,” Nuri (Weaver) and Yasir (Catlett) must conduct quite the balancing act and have mastered some tricky social mores along the way. The series delves into the good, the bad, and even the 1990s, where it all began for them (nb. in the 2027 storyline Nuri is played by Young).
An exuberant dreamer, Nuri is toiling as a sitcom staff writer, but she aspires to really make something of herself. Her personal life has not been slow, but it hasn’t been all that fulfilling either — until she meets Yasir. Even though he’s ready to give up on all his big plans, Yasir may just be perfect for Nuri.
He’s an aspiring writer and director, and his unemployment is about to run out. He’s been staying with his ex, Ruby (Wong-Loi-Sing), but after meeting Nuri, Yasir feels the need to change his life and reach his potential.
Nuri’s co-worker, Angela (Victor), is a frustrated drama writer, stuck working on a comedy which leaves her uninspired. While she can come off as hard-edged and cold, she’s much warmer with Nuri, and they’re good friends.
Rounding out their circle are Sean (Brown), who once used Yasir as his wingman in an attempt to woo Nuri. Then there’s Norman (Hardison), the EP of Marvin, Nuri’s sitcom, who can be a harsh task-master.

Renew please. Such a realistic show of Black Love with people who seem to be opposites but can actually work toward a common goal. Love is not always so perfect and comes with real drama on both sides. True Love!!!
Renew….please. Such a lovely love story and it is great to see myself reflected in the characters on TV. That doesn’t often happen in a way that is not primarily comical. Please I implore you, bring it back.
please return. It seems whenever there is an authentic black story it is cancelled and we are left with comedies are light drama. Can we keep a show that is real and mirrors real life?

Renewed – this was my favorite show. I truly looked forward to watching this each week. There hasn’t been a television show that had captured me like this one. I am so hurt and devastated by the cancellation
This was one of the more authentic shows that you could feel and appreciate with your heart, soul and mind. The story was real and inspiring. The actors were greatly aligned with the real life couple, writers and producers. You all should bring this show back. You’ve left us hanging and it’s hard to understand why.

Please do not cancel this show. I have never watched a show and looked forward to seeing it again every week. It gives the viewer the ups and downs of a real relationship. the Good the Bad and the Ugly. I hope the Network reconsiders
Love Is _____ is such a refreshing show about the true nature of love in the heart of two individuals seeking the same thing! Weekly I’d rush home to ensure I didn’t miss the original air of the show. If by chance I missed the show, you’d better believe I was watching it on DVR. After having ‘too many shows to watch’, I vowed I wouldn’t consider any new shows. THEN Love Is ____ appeared, and I’M HOOKED!

Every week I could not wait to see the love of two people unfold. To follow their hearts despite the financial or economical differences. Times have changed it’s about what is convenient or status someone holds. We live in a time “love” is distorted by material, monetary and selfish gain. Finally, a TV series that showed how two people from different backgrounds can find the one thing they have for each other, love. I do not watch reality TV shows. Please renew Love Is…. it’s the most refreshing show about true love on TV. It was one of my must watch shows every week. At the end of the season it was mentioned that it had been renewed for a second season! Now you are pulling the rug out from under it. I think every women has had that kind of love at some point in her life. Love Is allowed us to reminisce & the musicical selection were so appropriate to the stories. OMG we need this show back!
