A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
i enjoy i show. i find it funny with a bit of truth about satan. he isn’t in hell. he does walk the earth. he can only be one place at a time. charming.handsome.gets blamed for all our faults. again i find the show entertaining. lighten up people. even 666 doesn’t mean anything til Jesus returns.
Loved the first season. Most of the critics never even bothered to watch it. I hope they release a second season besides making Season 2!
Please keep Lucifer – both me and my mom (she’s 87 and hates most network tv) love it.
Keep please
Keep!! Love the show.
Please do not cancel. It’s a great show. Some shows need more than a season to become popular.
Please KEEP Lucifer on the air for more seasons ! We don’t need anymore reality shows . This show is great entertainment! We look forward to it every week.
Don’t cancel the show!!! If people are offended then they can change the channel.
Keep the show on..sure there might be negative groups..but i say to these negative groups..its just a tv show..if you don’t like it..dont watch it….its entertainment..
Absolutely keep it! Lucifer is one of the best things on TV in general, and most likely *the* best show on *network* TV.
Please keep the show. It is original, interesting and funny. I haven’t watched a series for a long time and I am hooked on lucifer .
Do not cancel….luci fee is like anyone else, he struggles with right and wrong
Don’t cancel lucifer. Everytime there is a good show they cancel it. This actor was on a show on USA where he played a doctor , and it was good but they canceled that. Does these viewer ratings take into account shows that DVR’d.? If it isn’t a reality show no matter how stupid they are they won’t cancel it. Most of this reality shows are bogus. Lucifer is entertaining. It’s story line is just beginning to flourish and they want to cancel it. I’d like to see what happens, if he goes back to hell or not. Give us… Read more »
I LOVE IT! PLEASE KEEP IT!!!!!!! DO NOT CANCEL!
Absolutely love the show. To be sure, the whole “detective” thing is next to ridiculous. The way crimes unfold and culprits are found makes me, more often that not, roll my eyes…but in a good way – if that makes any sense. That is just the background as Lucifer’s character grows and seems to be evolving, little by little, into a *gasp* actual human being with normal human feelings – love, jealousy, regret, pain…and all. I can’t wait to see where this story, which is getting more complex, convoluted, and interesting by the minute is going. Not too bad for… Read more »
