A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
I love the show! The humor keeps me entertained. I urged my sister to watch the show and she will be watching it from the beginning via On Demand. We are older that the age demographic this article refers to, but that may be why we enjoy the show.
Really enjoy the show, because of work i have to stream it on the website , but I look forward to each new week.

I really enjoy Lucifer and find Tom Ellis charming. This is a unique and creative approach to the who done it. Please don’t cancel.
The show is not at all what I was expecting. I initially watched it out of curiosity, but immediately became hooked. The chemistry between the actors is outstanding, and the characters are truly beginning to develop. I’m anxious to see where they can take the audience.
It’s an outstanding show, and I love it! Keep up the amazing work!
Love This Show! Tom Ellis is charming. I watch these episodes over and over. It’s thought provoking. Really, what would the devil be like? In a suit, dealing with children, with morals, with everyday evil humans? Please, Please dont cancel this one!
Love the show and certainly hope it’s renewed for another season. Some episodes have been a little less entertaining than others, but overall I think it’s great.

Here is hoping they keep it, almost getting to the point of not watching if they keep canceling the good shows.
Keep it. The show has its good and bad elements. The audience should expand as the religious conflict increases.
