A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Love this show! Don’t cancel it!
Love the show. Keep it
The show is awesome. Good action, comedy, and drama all in one. I don’t see how they could cancel it only after 1 season. A lot of people are probably watching it but just not getting recorded due to jetflicks, internet, and other streaming options that probably don’t calculate in the normal way.
Please keep this show i love it to many of these kind of shows getting cancelled and to many reality shows being renewed.
I love this show! This is one of the best shows I watch, and I watch a lot(including GoT,breaking bad, shameless, supernatural, house of cards and so on). If some group of moms don’t want it to air they shouldn’t stop the production just because of that!!! If those moms worries that their kids will watch it secreatly or they will start behave badly- they should bring up and educate their children better and just let them watch the good show! Normal parents don’t worrie for such a nonsense. If you dont trust your kid-its’s your problem, not the whole cast and fans of “Lucifer”… Read more »
I love the show, don’t cancel it, for once something new, instead of yet another Marvel Comic program. Great show, awesome character.
It’s based on a character from the Sandman comics written by Neil Gaimon which if memory serves is a DC comic, but a comic nonetheless
Please keep Lucifer. I love it, but please make Lucifer show more of his demonic side. Tom Ellis is perfect for this role and I know he can be more ‘bad’. Please let there be a season 2.
I really like the main characters (Lucifer and Chloe; Mazikeen, Amenadiel, Dan). The story has a good premise and I like how you get a peak of something new and telling about the characters from Hell each week . The side actors are horrible (C – at best) and the crime stories are so corny they are laughable. This show could be better with better writers. In spite of the terrible acting of the side characters, I will still continue to watch this show because I do like the main characters mentioned above and the little revealing details about them… Read more »
Yes, the story line needs some upgrading but I really hope the show doesn’t get cancelled!
Love the show! I look forward to it every Monday night. I like the way Lucifer interacts with his psychologist, Linda, and how he is discovering more about himself. I especially liked the last “Priest Walks into a Bar” episode.
We really enjoy the show! We so enjoy the humor and the characters development
I really enjoy it. Don’t cancel!
Definitely keep, I can never get enough
Please keep this series. The characters are different and refreshing, and one of the only shows that has kept my interest all year
Look at all these people saying they love the show, that’s proof enough it should stay, I love this show but I just wish they would step away from the everyday cop show and make it into something so much better
Refreshing show that makes you question the blurry line between good and evil and showcases that no matter how much how much a sinner or saint you see yourself you are truly just a fraction away from the “other side”.
