A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
I’d keep the show. It’s doing well on Pirate Bay dot com so it is popular. I like the star so keep it.

Please don’t cancel it. It’s a great show.
KEEP IT!!!!!!! Its a great show,,,,,,,Tired of talk shows, shows about wives, silly comedies,,,,,The show comes late enough, young kids should be in bed,,,,I think the Title of the show puts a lot of folks off,,,,the moms that are complaining need to be more worried about some of day shows that are suppose to be family or kid focused ,,,,,Keep Lucifer!!!!!! It’s entertaining and just plain ole GOOD!!!!!!
Please keep it! Why would anyone object to Lucifer learning and growing and earning a chance at redemption– as we see him doing with every episode.
Inexplicably riveting. I love the acting and direction. There is something delicious here. A refreshingly unique story.
The writing for this series is quite intelligent in comparison to so many others, so hopefully Fox continues with Lucifer.
I love, love, love the show. Please keep it!!!! At first it was a fairly light weight procedural, but it’s gotten sooooo good and I love how Lucifer is evolving. Please keep the show!!!
I love Lucifer!!! I would keep it!!!!!!!!!!!! #TeamLucifer
