A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Please keep the show! Enjoy the series – would like if Lucifer had some of his powers back to scare people more, but also like that he is beginning to face his own mortality.
I would like the Lucifer series to continue. I enjoy watching the correlation of good vs evil. Tom Ellis puts an entirely different spin on Lucifer on earth as to opposed to Lucifer living among mankind.
Keep the show! Fresh, fun, twists to keep it interesting, and great quips. Renew… RENEW!!!!
I love lucifer! I love his attitude and just everything of the show. So does my family. There is so much that can be done with show, so many different ways the show can go. It makes you think of a different side of the devil and angels. Please don’t cancel the show do whatever it may take to keep the show going. For my family and millions of others out there who do watch and enjoy the show.
It’s a great show! Please don’t cancel it.
Keep it. Do not Cancel. I love this show !!!!!!!!!
Great show with unique premise. Does not glorify “sins” at all, but rather the opposite. Keep it!
LOVE this show! Hope it comes back for Season 2.
What a great show. This should not be cancelled even though people have down sized in their viewing time. We all agree “as the faithful” it should be renewed for another season. I cannot give more thanks to the outlet TV station of showing this fantastic series.
I really want the show to be renewed
This is a great series. Do not cancel the show.
It’s a quirky fun series. I look forward to it in a time slot that’s otherwise (thankfully) dead.
