A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Please keep the TV series Lucifer. I find it extremely enjoyable. Also, by no means is it telling people that it’s okay to be evil. Morningstar is gorgeous, funny, and has real life struggles just as mortals. I am realigous and I find it delightful.
Please keep the show going, it is funny and refreshing. The best show I have watched besides The Walking Dead
Keep Lucifer. Tom Ellis is hysterical and Lauren magnificent. The show is very entertaining.I don’t even record this show; I watch it first run, it’s so good.
like show keep it running
Keep Lucifer on air! very entertaining and wit writings!
Love it, don’t cancel it
Please cancel this, and all of you NEED to stop watching it.
Why do we need to stop watching this show just because you want us to. Give us a reasonthat is not based on your own opinion.
This is a comment I have given 2 other people who have left comments just like this one: I’m not replying to put you down. You certainly have a right to your own opinion. However, to go to a board to ask a network to cancel a series other people enjoy is not cool. Simply don’t watch the show. You don’t have a right to tell others what they should or can watch any more than they have a right to tell you what you should be watching. I stopped watching Scandal some time ago when I felt it ‘jumped… Read more »
This is a great show, and if you have faith, it shouldn’t bother anyone. Oh Ye of little faith! If you actually watch it is well written and talks about all types of faith and our struggles as humans with our faith in dark moments . Please keep it, the writing and actors do a superb job!
Keep it. Quirky and entertaining.
Love this show! Witty, sexy & the music! Wow!
Keep it, loving this show.
Definitely entertaining and devilishly fun, should be renewed..
Honestly, sorry to preach but sometimes keeping some perspective and keeping an open mind will help you understand that this show actually could reinforce faith. Not to divert us from God, but understand that we aren’t his only children. If we can actually love (NOT PRAISE OR LISTEN TO) the devil himself, then wouldn’t we be doing what God want us to do in a whole new level. (God wants us to love one another) It serves as a test for our faith, and by all means put a strict rating to the show but this show actually deserves a chance.… Read more »
Some people are just too narrow-minded. They don’t even know what the show is about; only what they’ve heard or read. It’s really just an amusing, fun show, meant to be taken in a light hearted way.
Its an embarrassingly poor adaptation! The real story was Epic! This is like Fox bought the rights to The Lord Of The Rings and decided to do a show where Gandalf and Frodo solve crimes in Minas Tirith!
Most of the faithful stopped watching after episode 2. It’s non offensive fun but could have been so much more – deeply disappointing!
Its entertaining as hell!
