A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Please keep the show! It can be a little campy at times, but I enjoy the mythology part of the show and the actors are really great. Please keep the show going.
Please keep this show. Lucifer is very funny. I look forward to see very week what Lucifer does next. Love this show.Great show that is on today.
Please keep Lucifer on air. I have enjoyed every episode.
Please Please keep this series. I watched it from episode one and until now. Tom Ellis really bring light to the show.
Please keep this series. Nothing like it on TV. I hope they regroup and maybe bring more of the devil/angel and other characters into the show! I think a lot of people were thinking this show was going to be more on seeing the Devil and Real Angels. The one scene with his friend who appeared with those huge wings was incredible. The characters are awesome in this show but maybe next season, bring in more of the afterlife characters! Ever read the Afterlife series of books, I hope to see more of characters like this mixed with humans and… Read more »
Please keep this show. We love it. I’s interesting and fun too.
I will be so sad if they cancel this show. All the stories and actors are fantastic. It is the only show I watch outside of PBS. Please renew it.
I love that show. I would hate to see it cancelled
PLEASE KEEP. I am absolutely in love with this show! The drama and continuously thickening plotline had me hooked from episode 1. The series has to continue, I’m looking forward to it. Honestly, The Devil never looked so good.
Definitely keep the series…. Excellent show. Viewers will even out at 7 million which is ok and worth keeping.
Keep, love it.
Keep it, but the network needs to stop making him into such a nice guy. We need to see more of the Devil at times and the nice guy with his lady police officer and her daughter.
Please keep this show it is one of the few shows my husband and I watch together and enjoy!!! Helen & Jimmy
My favorite show!!!
