A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Love this show.would like to see him regain his immortality too.
Please keep it. I haven’t watched the first few episodes because i didn’t know about the show, but when my mom told me to watch it, i love it. PLEEEEEEASE KEEP IT!
It is one of my favorite shows & I look forward to watching it every week. I will be seriously disappointed if it is canceled.
Please keep Lucifer…love the show’s creativity and I love that they bring the devil to life in a form we can all relate to…I think he loves exploring his good side…besides everyone needs to admit that we all like exploring the dark side
please do not cancel this show everyone in our house loves the show.
We love this show. It is very witty and clever. My husband has watched each show multiple times. I think he may have a “man crush” on Lucifer. . . Hahah. We really enjoy this show and look forward to Mondays again. Please bring it back for another season.
Keep it and give him back his immortality.
I LOVE THIS SHOW IT’S AWESOME!!! PLEASE RENEW IT. If these religious people don’t like they don’t need to watch it. Grow up, just because there is a tv shows about zombies doesn’t mean they’re real. Same with Lucifer, just because the devil is approachable in the show means nothing. Deal with it there is going to be things in life that you wont like. Turn away, switch the channel, it’s not that difficult.
i LOVE THIS SHOW
We love the show and are looking forward to next season. Kudos to the writers.
Keep it up!!!
Keep it! His humor and sarcasm is wonderful. Seeing this twist on the devil makes me want to watch more. Plus watching how he’s changing and his relationships with the other characters makes him so interesting.
FOX should definitely keep Lucifer it is a fun, witty, and refreshing show. There really is nothing else quite like it. It is one of my current favorites and so is Tom Ellis.
FOX should definitely keel Lucifer, it is a fun, witty, and refreshing show. There is really nothing quite like it and it is one of my current favorites, so is Tom Ellis.
I really enjoy the show and hope that it will be renewed !!!!
What ?? Why would any network want to cancel such a humerous show ? The whole family looks foreward to each episode !
The possibility of satin developing a conscience is just too delicious ! And – kudos to the fantastic writers for their incredibly
delicious sense of humour ! The show MUST go on !
