A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Keep it!!! I love this show!!! I need to see what else is going to come of his feelinhs he’s starting to have!!! So funny and I look forward to watching it every Monday!
Funny, entertaining, well played, very good cast and ideas. The concept is original… why cancel Lucifer? Ah yes, Fox is interested in money, not good shows (remember Firefly…). They make tons of cash selling advertising through moronic TV like reality shows or wrestling, they need room for that stuff, God forbid… Sarcasm aside, DO NOT CANCEL LUCIFER PLEASE !
If I was the producer I would keep the show. It is funny and mysterious about the show. It makes me laugh to watch it. It could need more of his powers to make it more excited. They show looking like a winner. People no hate cause there are more shows that are evil and you all know that. Haters be gone.
Don’t cancel!! This is an amazing show.
I love the show! Please keep it. Tom Ellis does a great job and he is the show. He portrays as a wonderful character and brings it to life in a hilarious way. This show brought my 19 yrs old daughter and my 25 yrs old son together as a family to watch. Thumbs up America.
I actually really like this show. I feel sorry for the mothers who want it cancelled (maybe bc they think the kiddies will want to become Satanists, and can’t be bothered w/ teaching their kids the difference between commercial entertainment and religious beliefs? Hmmm…). Lucifer Morningstar is, like the Angel of Light was supposed to be, VERY easy on the eyes, and charming. His battle w/ his conscience, and disbelief that “he, of ALL entities” has begun to care about humanity is adorable.
I am always entertained, and hope it continues….
I agree totally. I love this shiw and they should really keep it.
The program is so funny ! Please keep it on.
Please do not cancel this or Second Chance!
Keep Lucifer – awesome show – also love Rosewood – keep them both!!
All the comments so far that I have read are exactly how I feel. They need to keep it and renew another season. The ratings are stable and will only grow as it continues. I love it. It’s funny witty and my favorite “detective douche” hahaha.
Keep the show, keep airing and give it a second season. It already has a loyal following.
Please dont cancel the show the whole family loves the show never miss an episode and cant wait till its monday again. Lucifer is such a funny , entertaining drama
My husband and I just love this show That guy is hysterical! Please don’t cancel it. I hope your including people who DVR it too as watchers. I can’t believe people wouldn’t watch its a really GOOD show!
PLEASE do NOT cancel this show. I enjoy it so much, and my mother loves it too. It’s funny, witty and intelligent. I’ll be so sad if this is taken off.
One would think that the million moms would consider the premise and Lucifer’s character development a religious awakening. Come on!! Lighten up (no pun intended)!! What more could they want than the devil gaining compassion and being reflective. This is a very clever show and should be renewed.
.
I look forward to watching Lucifer each Monday evening with my husband. It is well written, has an interesting story line and I truly enjoy the comedic quips by Lucifer that has me in stitches. The major networks are normally to quick to throw new programs off the air and should do a better job of advertising them. Look at all of the stupid reality shows that are continuously advertised that should be off of television.
