A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Keep. Love this smart funny thought provoking show. One of the best new shows in years. It’s far and above one of the best shows on television now,
Please keep it on the air.

KEEP it PLEASE
Keep!! People haven’t found It yet
Wasn’t sure about the show just from the title, but decided to watch to see what it was all about. Having finished all but two of the episodes, I can now say that it is one of the few shows I would rate right up there with Castle and NCIS. It is fresh, undone, wildly funny, and keeps you coming back for more. Makes you think about things in a different perspective. One of the few shows in a long time where the cast was in sync from the beginning, not requiring half the season to come together (which in… Read more »

Lucifer is brilliant and addicting and I seriously hope it’s been renewed. The cast is excellent and the chemistry between the cast members is delightful. Tom Ellis is glorious in his role of Lucifer. I look forward to Monday nights to see what kind of mischief will take place. Please keep this entertaining series, thank you
