A new dramatic TV series on FOX, Lucifer created a bit of an uproar before it even premiered. The One Million Moms group wants the show to be cancelled and some religious people feel the same way. That’s not likely to have an effect on the show’s future but the ratings sure will. How’s the Lucifer TV show doing? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
On the Lucifer TV show, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, he’s enjoying his retirement while owning a nightclub. His bliss is disturbed when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of his club. He starts to have feelings of compassion for the first time in billions of years and ends up helping a homicide detective (Lauren German). The rest of the cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, D. B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez.
The series debuted in January to a 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.16 million viewers. That was a very positive start, especially considering the state of the rest of FOX’s drama series.
In week two, the ratings fell to a 1.95 in the demo and 6.0 million viewers, a decline of nearly 20% in the demo. The numbers have essentially kept falling lower each week (though there was a slight bump upward in week seven). Last week’s installment, episode eight, hit a new low in the ratings and hit a 1.21 in the demo and 3.86 million.
The eight episodes have averaged a 1.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.08 million viewers.
The rest of the FOX schedule is in poor shape so it’s currently the network’s third-highest rated drama of the season (behind Empire and The X-Files). That may be enough to secure Lucifer a second season but it’s very concerning that the series continues to lose viewers. That may be enough to sink the series. We’ll likely have to wait until May to find out for sure.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? If you ran the network, would you cancel or keep it?
Was not quite sure if I would like it but was surprise watched every week hope it gets renewed
I was scepticle at first but quickly fell in love with it. I think its a great show and hope to see more of it soon…never thought I’d say it but Imiss lucifer. Come on season two..please.
Keep it , its funny , its action and keeps you on your toes.
Keep it
me to keep it please we love it….sad face.
It seems that the writters missed the mark on what the public was expecting from the show. People are sick of the same storylines with different window dressing. I like the show, the Lucifer has the charisma, but his actions are diluted. Learn from Trump, it pays to anger the masses, and create a entertaing character. Lucifer pines over a single woman, become more “good/human”?!!
Lucifer exhanges sex with a therapist, exposes that evil is his snack, really bad guy gets really bad punishment. … yup ! Keep going.. the rest STOP!!
Keep it
Keep it — I love this show.
kep Lucifer I love the show if oher people dot lke it they ont have to wtch it
Get Rid of this stupid and disgusting show. It is garbage. A terrible dipiction of Satan as a nice guy? Pure ignorance to dipict this creature in this way. Satan hates God and wants the kingdom of Heaven for himself ,brought death into the world with the fall of man. Christians who like this dipiction are depraved ignorant lost sheep. Woe to you who mistake good for evil and evil for good..Hell is very real for all you Christians who watch this show!!
Oh get over yourself! It’s called a tv show and it’s purely for entertainment. You’re taking it too seriously!
I agree with Sharlene
WHY ARE YOU TAKING THIS SO SERIOUS. STOP BEING A HATER
IT’S A GOOD SHOW. ONLY FOR TV ENTERTAINMENT
Please KEEP it. The actors are great, especially Tom Ellis who is my McDreamy! I am spiritual and religious but I came to see the good in portraying Lucifer as a hurt son and doesn’t God forgive ALL.
Please KEEP!!
So.. I haven’t watched a TV show since heroes.. They cancelled that one , but I really hate that!! I finally find a show I like and poof it’s gone??? Please continue with Lucifer.. It’s a great show !
Keep
This is the only show I watch and look forward to it every week. FOX has always had an edgy demographic so I doubt religious moms would watch any of their shows.
