The Madam Secretary TV series has been renewed for a third season on CBS. The political drama, starring Tèa Leoni, Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Tim Daly, and Keith Carradine, was one of 11 series CBS picked up today.
Madam Secretary features Secretary of State Elizabeth Adams McCord (Leoni). Clever and tenacious, she oversees international diplomacy, deals with office politics, and sometimes colors outside the lines, at work and at home.
Along with the renewal CBS announces it will finish this television season as America’s most-watched network for the 13th time in 14 years.
Here is the full list of shows renewed by CBS today: Blue Bloods, Elementary, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, 2 Broke Girls, Survivor, and The Amazing Race.
CBS previously renewed The Big Bang Theory and NCIS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you plan to watch the third season? Tell us.
Hurrah. It gets better with each episode
I love this show and am so happy to hear I can see it for another season.
I thought “Madam Secretary” was going to end up cancelled after the current season because of its low 18-49 demographic rating (1.3). While “MS”‘s total viewership may look great on its own, its demo ratings have always been mediocre, having never gone above a 2.0. But I think its critical reception, while not on the level of “The Good Wife”, is fairly positive. Since CBS has now committed to a third season of “Madam Secretary”, we could likely see its original run continue for at least a fourth season, and possibly a fifth, because of potential syndication profits. I am so happy they renewed Madam Secretary. I love the show, it is fast moving and I think the politics of the show are very good, believable.
SO EXCITED FOR SEASON 3!!!!!
Great great show!! So well writtten and acted! The cast is so believable and I can’t wait from week to week! Wish I could binge watch like on Netflix. Good job CBS
This is one of most intelligent, well-written, and well-acted programs of this decade. Tea’ Leoni, Tim Daly, and the entire ensemble are believable and personally engaging through the reality of the dynamics between the characters. Thank you, CBS.
I am glad CBS renewed this show. I am a fan of Tim Daly but wasn’t sure I’d like the show. Love the family interaction. Now, if The Good Wife would just not be ending, I’d be a happy camper.
Yes I will be watching. Love this show. Been a fan since the first time I watched it. I’m hooked.
I’m a fan of the show. My husband and I watch it together. It’s one of the few shows be enjoy together.
I will definitely be watching, absolutely love this show I’m so happy about this news ☺
Absolutely. Given the craziness of ALL the republican clown reality show, we need this woman to remind us that REALity is engaged in REALtime…just fine.
Love the show! I went to school with Barbara Hall. She’s a great writer and Madam Secretary is excellent!
Thanks for reading and commenting, Terry. I became a Barbara Hall fan with Joan of Arcadia. Did you watch?
Good show! I am always impressed with the creative and intelligent minds behind a series such as this. The talent casting is great, as well. Hope it is renewed more many more!
Thank you for reading and commenting, Sammy. I’m glad your show was renewed.
Just an FYI for correctness, Elizabeth McCord is Elizabeth Adams McCord.
I think the draft Pilot script had Faulkner as her middle name but they actually changed that to Adams and had her maiden name referenced a few times during Season 2.
Thanks for the note!
Sorry for the error. Thank you for the heads up, Betsy, and for reading and your comment.
