Dunham isn’t done with HBO just yet.
According to Variety, the premium cable network has committed to a new pilot from the Girls creator and star that revolves around feminism and the 1960s magazine industry.
Titled Max, the half-hour comedy takes place in 1963 and will follow an “ambitious magazine writer who stumbles her way into the women’s movement.” It is rumored that Lisa Joyce will star in the lead role.
Girls writer/executive producer Murray Miller wrote the pilot and Dunham is set to direct.

Wow another HBO show that will have horrendous ratings but for some reason will be renewed year after year. HBO was once the king of original TV series but it has fallen below Showtime, AMC, and FX. HBO needs to start making shows that appeal to a) groups of people instead of a small segment of the population. This new comedy will have lousy ratings and will continue to drag HBO down. HBO currently has only one great show, Game of Thrones. They need to develop a couple more great shows before Thrones is over. IMO this is the worst… Read more »
I think anything Lena is involved with will be fantastic. And I love anything set in the 1960’s.
I go hope that GIRLS will continue though.
