Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

I would really want to see what happens, sad that it got cancelled. Hope that dvd release is a go!
Yes, I really liked this show!!!! Sad to see it canceled after 2 episodes.
I really liked the show. I can’t believe they canceled it! I would love to see the remaining episodes and wish they would have at least shown them, it was just getting good. What happened?
The first time I saw My Generation I was impressed . The show was very realistic and cutting edge. It was great that they were finally talking about all the events that took place in the world these past ten years. We only hear about the sixties when it comes to shows . I was getting so hook to the story line and couldn’t wait for next week . I couldn’t believe that they canceled one of the best shows in a long time . I think another network should pick it up so we can enjoy this show .
Yes, I would have loved to seen the rest of the show! I’m not sure why they yanked it off air to begin with. What is wrong with ABC, and why do they keep canceling good show before they even have a chance??? I had the show set-up to tape on my DVR, and when the last episode didn’t tape…that’s when I realized they had booted another great show. If it weren’t for Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Cougar Town, and recently No Ordinary Family..I would most likely stop watching ABC all together. PLEASE stop canceling good shows ABC.
I cannot believe they canceled this show! I loved this show! How can they cancel this…it was so well made! so different! Please bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow. that sucks! i love julian morris! ru kidding, 2 eps n that’s it. i was looking forward to the next episode! Urggg so mad at Abc!
ABC you suck what are you canceling a good down to earth show for you have made a big mistake in my opinion I really dont feel that you gave the show much of a chance I dont like watching spoiled kid reality shows and I thought that for once there would be a show that could be a show that teaches kids that there are consequences in the decisions that you make early in life yes ! hope that it gets picked up by someone else and they give it more time to catch on 2 episodes that is… Read more »
I agree. This show has a depth to it that most shows only pretend to have. It’s amazing to me that a show ready to address the profound realities of life in a seductive and striking way was given such bad reviews. I guess one might say the truth hurts. Quite honestly, ABC is missing out on this. I hope another company picks this up, one who is ready to explore human nature a little closer and more turthfully than ABC. While watching the first two episodes of this show, I experienced so many emotions and recognized so many emotions… Read more »
The show was my #1 thing to watch come 8pm thursdays night, and it’s that I didn’t get a chance to watch the last episode and to find out that the shows been canceled. I wish there was something I can do to bring it back. I was intrigued and happy with the storyline and cast, respectively. I wish all the cast the best and that they will find other products that fit them perfectly. If the DVD is released, I will definitely purchase it. Word of advice to the crew and cast, don’t give up guys!
AHHHH…I am so upset! ABC didnt even give the show a chance….cancelling after only 2 episodes. UGH!!! I really want to see what happens….it was starting to get really really good! please post rest of shows online!!! PLEASE
I’m so upset… There had only been two episodes, it was starting to get good. I’m very dissppointed that it was cancelled!
This show was absolutely amazing. I am so upset that ABC canceled it. It was the first show in a while that truly caught my attention. It had a fantastic, captivating story line that had me hooked. I could relate my own life to it more than I could to any other show. I’m positive others felt the same way.
I would definitely watch the episodes online or buy a DVD.
I loved My Generation. The show caught my attention right away. The characters and storyline were realistic and heart warming. I would definitely buy the DVD season. I looked forward to Thursdays because of that show.
They did NOT give it enough time.
It kind of reminded me of thirtysomething. I could get hooked.
