Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

I wish someone else would pick up the show. It was a great show. I am sad to hear it will no lnger air.
I LOVED THIS SHOW. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. REPEATS OF GREY’S ANATOMY? PLEASE. GIVE SOMETHING A CHANCE. YES, I WOULD SEE ON DVD. PLEASE BRING THIS BACK.
Great Show! Was surprised to find out it was cancelled! It was a great show style, i don’t know why they would not give it more of a chance! What happened with Anders and Brenda? What is Falcon’s story? How does Stephen do as a dad and does he ever go to see his own father? These questions and many more will never be answered!!!!! Bad Choice ABC!
This was one of the best shows that premiered this week! i don’t understand what happened. Hopefully, they come out online or on DVD. it was so great!
Im so so sad, I finally thought I found an awesome new show to watch..none of this reality tv crap….something good! bring it back or at least show us the remaining episodes please! 🙂
Put the show back on. I felt like it touched real subjects that needed to be seen on T.V. I am truely disappointed in ABC’s choice to stop airing the show.
Bring it back!
I cannot beleive this show was cancelled! My sister and I both were getting together on thursday nights to watch it, and we loved it! Last thursday we were like what happened?! The previews to the next episode looked so good!! VERY DISAPPOINTED. You couldn’t pay me to watch Grey’s Anatomy re-runs. It doesn’t seem like My Generation was even given a chance after only 2 episodes.
ABC why would you cancel a show before giving it a chance?!?! Obviously it already fans, where did you come up with your ratings? I can see doing it after an entire season but only after 2 shows, come on. BRING IT BACK – YOU ARE NOT BEING FAIR ABC.
This was a really good show. I really hope we can see the remaining episodes because I want to know what happens!!
I love My Generation! I’m actually really upset it was canceled. I was looking forward to it every week! Please put it online or something! I would love to see more! It has been the best show I’ve seen in a very long time. All of the stories and characters were so relatable.
I’m really not happy about this cancellation.
Loved it. Bring it back!!
Extreme and utter disappointment. I was identifying with this so well and I was looking forward to finding out the outcomes. Grey’s has had plenty of time on the air and I don’t understand why they now need all of Thursday nights. BIG MISTAKE ABC!
That so sad i wanted to see it but it was never o on my tv i checked every single day and it never came out i had to watch it online 🙁 I wanted to see what was going to happen 🙂
Put the show back on it was sooo good and it was cut wayy to short to determine if this show can actually make it!!! Please please.
