Last season, the NBC schedule had a few ratings successes but the peacock network had a lot more misses. How will their shows do this time around? Which will be cancelled or renewed? Stay tuned.
NBC shows this season (so far): America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Aquarius, Better Late Than Never, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, The Biggest Loser, The Blacklist, Blindspot, The Carmichael Show, Caught On Camera With Nick Cannon, Crowded, Dateline NBC, Dateline: On Assignment, Game of Silence, Grimm, Heartbeat, Hollywood Game Night, Heroes Reborn, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Little Big Shots, Maya & Marty, The Mysteries Of Laura, The Night Shift, The Player, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Shades Of Blue, Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, Superstore, Telenovela, Truth Be Told, Undateable, The Voice, and You, Me and the Apocalypse.
There’s lots of data that NBC execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
to NBC you should add new writers, to the show grimm.!!! before you cancel the show.? the show has become stale., it seams the writers dont know what direction to take nicks roll., he gets more cops killed, by not killing, but arresting bad wesen.!! i guess the shows ratings tell the story, glad to see juliette come back has eve.!! i hope the show dont turn into, a nick juliette love BS story. i owne the first 4 seasons on dvd, would love an epic ending to grimm.??
if fans.!!! cant bring grimm to 1.5 in ratings 18 to 49, they will cancel grimm. and thats a good guess.!!! even telenovela has better ratings.,
I can’t believe how horrible GRIMM is doing. If it doesn’t get over a 1.1 by the end of the season. I would think its a goner. it’s hard to believe SVU hasn’t been renewed. The answer has to be MONEY!
Grimm is starting to show its age. And it feels more like a soap opera this season. SVU has been renewed.
what sup i love heros rebron
The player is one of the best shows on tv! My husband who is 35 and in the demographic is tired of watching shows that he starts to like and then they are canceled. He’s almost ready not to watch any shows since when he likes one such as the payer it will be canceled before the season is finished. Doesn’t want to get burned!
NO NO want it get renewed it such good show on NBC need more of it.
NO NO NO i WANT Grimm to get renewed please want NBC to continue.
Has your network become a sex/riske seller???? All i see is Blindspot! Blindspot! Blindspot! I don’t see as many The Player commercials as I do Blindspot commercials, and I watch both. They both have the same level of intrigue, but Blindspot doesn’t have that……IT factor. It’s lackluster. The promos are more exciting than the episode it’s promoting. BUT Player does have the IT factor! It does live up to its own promos. Did you assess the show’s success after the series premier???? Did actually WATCH the show AFTER you gave it the greenlight???? Your network used to be the revival… Read more »
3rd message!
……I’m beyond anger, disappointment, and confusion. I just want to know why you’ve done terrible advertising for The Player!!!! EVERYONE I’VE TALKED TO ABOUT THE SHOW HAS NO IDEA WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! Is that my fault or yours???? Is it on purpose?? Is it inefficient personal?? Is it that your “execs” out of touch?? I’m literally asking in hope of answers.
I really think it’s NBC lack of advertising for “The Player.” They promoted it very little and promoted “Blindspot” A LOT. In fact, NBC is still giving “Blindspot” a mega marketing push. Some of those expenses could’ve gone to promoting “The Player”!!
Since NBC and Hulu still have “The Player” episodes online, fans can rewatch them to boost online ratings. “Aquarius” was renewed due to its high online viewership, so hopefully the same can happen with “The Player.” This fight isn’t over!
The ratings were AWFUL and there was lots of advertising for this show at one time. Welcome to the world of NBC. They don’t care what you want, they do what they want.
The Player is AWESOME, to cancel it is stupid. Move it to a better time and give it another season. This is one of the best action shows I’ve seen on T.V in a very long time. Get with the program people.
The Player is the best action show on television in a long time! The stories are interesting and fun. The main cast are all perfectly suited for their roles. New fresh faces (Philip Winchester & Charity Wakefield) and one seasoned veteran (Wesley Snipes) makes this show compelling to watch! Probably too good for network TV! Hopefully is NBC ditches it (which would be a huge mistake)… Sony will sell it to a cable network where it will be appreciated and make many more fans! #renewThePlayer!!!
The player it´s sad that it dind´t get de viewers NBC was hoping it to get , but thats mainly because its put in the NBC Death time slot to begin with. Knith rider for exsample was put in just the same way , it could have run for more then 18 episodes if nbc did put it in a proper time slot to begin with and didn´t make the show as a ford commercial, come on 1 car that can transfrom-morph in to almost evry car ford-shelby produced. if they kept the stories more to theoriginal one the show… Read more »
please put grimm & constantine on CW wednesday with supernatural. that would make it a great hump day.???
Grimm is produced by Universal Television so it can’t be on The CW. All CW shows are produced by CBS Television Studios or Warner Bros. Studios. And Constantine is dead, it’s not coming back. Time to move on.
Yeah, Constatine showed up on Arrow this week, though.
grimm is to good of show to be on NBC. the liberal station.
It’s better than fox
I love Blindspot
Please renew Proof, Falling skies, supernatural, Grimm and Heroes. These show a true meaning of Hope. That there still good in this world and people do exist that really want to help other. Please don’t take these lessons away. Thank you
Falling Skies is over. They won’t bring it back.
