Some were worried that NCIS: Los Angeles being moved to Monday nights, away from the NCIS mothership, would lead to the show’s cancellation. Well, the ratings have dropped quite a lot but the series will return for a seventh season.
Based in the City of Angels, NCIS: Los Angeles follows the members of an elite division of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), one that specializes in undercover assignments. This drama stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Barrett Foa, Renée Felice Smith, and Miguel Ferrer.
Airing on Monday nights, the numbers for NCIS: Los Angeles have indeed come way down in season six. It’s averaged a 1.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.32 million. That’s a decline of 34% in the demo and a drop of 37% in viewership.
While that’s not good news for the show’s future, the series is still CBS’ fifth highest-rated drama series of the season. Those ratings are apparently still good enough to secure a renewal for the 2015-16 season.
What do you think? Do you like the NCIS: Los Angeles TV show? Have you been watching on Monday nights?
Of the three variations of NCIS currently airing, NCIS: LA is by far the best. They have Hetty (who needs any other characters as long as we have Hetty?) Kensi, Nell, three strong characters who work well together. Love Granger, (adored Dr. Macy!), Deeks and Eric, and manage to tolerate Callen and Sam. I never miss NCIS: LA, and watch it on Esquire and USA as well as on CBS. No offense intended towards NCIS: NO, because that is a good show, especially since they snagged CCH Pounder (Loved Mrs. Frederick!) but that show hasn’t engendered the same loyalty I… Read more »
Seems unfair for NCIS LA to be judged while it sits in the worst time slot on TV. If it had stayed where it was, the ratings wouldn’t be so dismal. How can they compare this season’s ratings to last year’s when there’s such an obvious reason for the difference? It’s like comparing apples to oranges—but with guns and banter.
I am so so glad NCIS LA has not been canceled. I love all the characters and the way they interact with each other I would hope that it won’t be cancelled for many years to come. I love this show don’t cancel it ever!!
Love watching NCIS: la, the show makes mondays a lot more exciting. This season showed how any show, can persevere in a new and difficult night and time slot.
Love watching NCIS: la, makes monday nights alot more exciting. This season showed how a show can persevere, through a new night and time slot.
My wife and I are big NCIS fans, although the original has not been as good since the departure of Cote de Pablo. We now prefer NCIS LA over the three. We still like NCIS NO, although we agree it ranks third among the three.
I love the show. Monday night are very bad and I don’t watch since it is so late, but I have purchased the series on ITunes and watch the next day. I wish it would be moved back to it’s old time slot.
I love NCIS LA and it is BY FAR the best of the 3. I would love for it to move back to it’s original Tuesday at 9pm time slot. The New Orleans is just stupid, the cast is so fake. I think it’s time for LA to be the only NCIS show on the air.
I love NCIS LA and it is by far the best show of the 3. I wish it would move back to Tuesdays and takeover the 8pm slot because the original is just about done in my opinion.
Maybe the author of this article would like to rewrite and elaborate as to why the ratings have declined, and how NCISLA has fared in its new slot in comparison to previous Monday night CBS shows at 10pm?
NCIS is getting tired with no character development. I won’t comment on the New Orleans show as I haven’t seen it. At least NCISLA develops characters, allows Kensi & Deeks to have a romantic relationship & has a healthy mix of action, drama & humour. It’s great entertainment and I hope it keeps going for at least a few more seasons.
The reason this show lost viewers is the change to another night instead of following NCIS. I really like this show and agree with those who do not care for NCIS N.O. – the acting is really bad and the characters are boring. If they moved this back to following NCIS it would do better.
Phew!!!! I am so happy, this is one of my favorites. I actually like it better than the original and much much better than the New Orleans NCIS with their faked up accents.
I would also watch it any day of the week! It is so much better than NCIS New Orleans….
I totally agree… it IS the best of the 3 NCIS shows… and N.O. is the worst! They can get rid of this one… we haven’t watched it since episode one… I hate the music, too!
I love NCIS-LA! IMHO it’s the best of the three. It’s funny, perhaps a bit nerdier than the others, has enough suspense and I really like the actors/characters. Great Linda Hunt fan and I love Kensi/Deeks. Though I still like NCIS, I’m getting a bit tired of Mike Weatherly: he should have been promoted or whatever. Regarding NCIS New Orleans: it may be a good show, but to me the “local” accent (esp. Lucas Blacks) seems exaggerated – like a foreigner (I’m Dutch myself) might characterize American speech. It’s not just a bit of a southern accent. I find it… Read more »
I would watch or record any day of the week.
