Mark Harmon has signed a contract extension to stay on NCIS so, to no surprise to anyone, CBS has renewed the top-rated TV series for an 11th season.
NCIS is the network’s fourth-highest rated TV series in the 18-49 demo (behind The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and 2 Broke Girls) with a 3.4 rating. It’s also CBS’ most-watched show by a longshot, currently averaging 19.31 million viewers each week. The episode on the 15th drew a whopping 22.86 million.
Word is that Harmon signed a two-year contract so it looks like a sure thing that NCIS will be back for a 12th year as well.
Here’s the press release from CBS:
CBS ANNOUNCES NEW CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR “NCIS” STAR AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER MARK HARMON “NCIS,” TELEVISION’S #1 SERIES AND A GLOBAL LEADER, IS RENEWED FOR 2013-2014 SEASON
CBS announced today a new contract extension for NCIS star and executive producer Mark Harmon, and that the U.S. and global ratings phenomenon NCIS has been renewed for the 2013-2014 season.
“In a world gone niche, NCIS keeps getting bigger, and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the #1 show on television,” said Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Corporation. “NCIS is the type of franchise every company wants in today’s global content ecosystem – high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform.”
Currently in its 10th season, NCIS continues to hit ratings milestones. This season, for the first time ever, it ranks as television’s #1 program (ahead of Sunday Night Football). NCIS is averaging 21.48 million viewers, up +7% over last year and is the highest-rated drama among adults 25-54 (5.9/15), while averaging 4.2/12 in adults 18-49. The series delivered its second-largest live plus same day audience on Jan. 15, averaging 22.86 million viewers. That total soared to 25.36 million viewers with L+3 day lift, marking the first NCIS broadcast to deliver more than 25 million viewers with live plus 3-day lift or live plus 7-day lift.
NCIS is also an international hit, licensed in more than 200 markets. It is the #1 series on M6 in France, the #1 U.S. series on Rai2 in Italy and the #2 U.S. series overall, the #1 U.S. series on TV3 in Sweden, the #2 U.S. series on LaSexta in Spain, the #2 U.S. drama on Network Ten in Australia and the #3 U.S. series on Sat1 in Germany.
In domestic syndication, NCIS is broadcast on USA Network and ranks as cable’s #1 off-network drama.
NCIS premiered on CBS in 2003-2004. Since its debut, NCIS’s ratings have steadily climbed, finishing 2008-2009 ranked fifth among all primetime programs. During the 2009-2010 season it became the #1 drama/scripted program on television, and has remained the #1 drama ever since.
NCIS stars Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum. Gary Glasberg, Chas. Floyd Johnson, Mark Horowitz, Mark Harmon, Shane Brennan, George Schenck, Frank Cardea and Donald P. Bellisario are executive producers for Belisarius Productions in association with CBS Television Studios.
Mark Harmon is represented by Paradigm and attorney Barry Axelrod.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that NCIS will be back next season? How long do you think the show should continue? Forever?
Number One Show……FOREVER!!
I keep hearing rumors that NCIS is being canceled & it’s driving me NUTS!! I love the cast, particularly (not necessarily in this order) Mark Harmon, David McCallum & Pauley Perrette. If they canceled NCIS or killed off another main character (just as bad) it would RUIN my week!!
I LOVE THE SHOW THERE’S NOT TOO MUCH ON ANY MORE THAT DOESN’T HAVE ALOT OF CURESING . SO I HOPE THE SHOW GO’S ON FOREVER.
I LOVE THE SHOW I HOPE IT GOS ON FOREVER. THERES NOT MUCH ON TV ANY MORE THAT MY HUSBAND AND I CAN WATCH TOGETHER. PLEASE KEEP IT ON.
With all the ‘Fake Reality’ shows on TV it has been Great to have a Real Show all these years. JAG was a great show too. With the Horror going on in Boston and around the world there are untold episodes left to be written. Would be a sad and stupid move for CBS to end this Great Show. Ciao
With all the ‘Fake Reality’ NCIS comes off as a Real Show. Hope it Never goes away. With the Horror of Boston there is plenty of Real Script still to be written. Ciao
I love this show it’s the best ! I don’t know what I’ll do when it does go off the air? I’ll cry a little!!! It will be greatly missed there is no other show like it on the air. I don’t really care for ncis la it’s just not the same!! I hope it will last a very long time. I am 62 yrs old and I never miss an episode if it can be helped. I watch the reruns all the time I enjoy them as much as the first time I saw them!!!!!
S/B BONNIE…
NCIS…. FOREVER!!!!!!! DO NOT NEED ANYMORE REALITY JUNK ON OUR CHANNELS!!!!! GIBBS AND CREW FOREVERMORE!!!!!!!!!
Groovy!!!! The show and the whole cast should last forever!
GREAT SHOW, I am so glad to here we will have another season. As long as everyone signs on, YOU can not replace any of the characters. It would never be the same. They are a family, we are a family. They have been together so long without any cast changes, so CBS give them whatever they want or you will regret it.
P.S. LOVE Two Broke Girls!
HATE!!!!!!! Two & a HALF Men, LET it DIE already.
I am glad that NCIS is staying! This is great news, I was very disappointed when I heard they were taking the show off the air. I feel like all of the great shows are being taken away.
NCIS is by far the best show on TV! Don’t let it end!!
NCIS is the best show on Prime Time.. I would truly hate to see it go..There is not another show on the has a little horror, comedy, drama, action and love all wrapped in one..It is a must have for TV!!! GREAT SHOW!
