Mark Harmon has signed a contract extension to stay on NCIS so, to no surprise to anyone, CBS has renewed the top-rated TV series for an 11th season.
NCIS is the network’s fourth-highest rated TV series in the 18-49 demo (behind The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and 2 Broke Girls) with a 3.4 rating. It’s also CBS’ most-watched show by a longshot, currently averaging 19.31 million viewers each week. The episode on the 15th drew a whopping 22.86 million.
Word is that Harmon signed a two-year contract so it looks like a sure thing that NCIS will be back for a 12th year as well.
Here’s the press release from CBS:
CBS ANNOUNCES NEW CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR “NCIS” STAR AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER MARK HARMON “NCIS,” TELEVISION’S #1 SERIES AND A GLOBAL LEADER, IS RENEWED FOR 2013-2014 SEASON
CBS announced today a new contract extension for NCIS star and executive producer Mark Harmon, and that the U.S. and global ratings phenomenon NCIS has been renewed for the 2013-2014 season.
“In a world gone niche, NCIS keeps getting bigger, and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the #1 show on television,” said Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Corporation. “NCIS is the type of franchise every company wants in today’s global content ecosystem – high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform.”
Currently in its 10th season, NCIS continues to hit ratings milestones. This season, for the first time ever, it ranks as television’s #1 program (ahead of Sunday Night Football). NCIS is averaging 21.48 million viewers, up +7% over last year and is the highest-rated drama among adults 25-54 (5.9/15), while averaging 4.2/12 in adults 18-49. The series delivered its second-largest live plus same day audience on Jan. 15, averaging 22.86 million viewers. That total soared to 25.36 million viewers with L+3 day lift, marking the first NCIS broadcast to deliver more than 25 million viewers with live plus 3-day lift or live plus 7-day lift.
NCIS is also an international hit, licensed in more than 200 markets. It is the #1 series on M6 in France, the #1 U.S. series on Rai2 in Italy and the #2 U.S. series overall, the #1 U.S. series on TV3 in Sweden, the #2 U.S. series on LaSexta in Spain, the #2 U.S. drama on Network Ten in Australia and the #3 U.S. series on Sat1 in Germany.
In domestic syndication, NCIS is broadcast on USA Network and ranks as cable’s #1 off-network drama.
NCIS premiered on CBS in 2003-2004. Since its debut, NCIS’s ratings have steadily climbed, finishing 2008-2009 ranked fifth among all primetime programs. During the 2009-2010 season it became the #1 drama/scripted program on television, and has remained the #1 drama ever since.
NCIS stars Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum. Gary Glasberg, Chas. Floyd Johnson, Mark Horowitz, Mark Harmon, Shane Brennan, George Schenck, Frank Cardea and Donald P. Bellisario are executive producers for Belisarius Productions in association with CBS Television Studios.
Mark Harmon is represented by Paradigm and attorney Barry Axelrod.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that NCIS will be back next season? How long do you think the show should continue? Forever?
So glad to hear that NCIS will be on at least 2 more seasons. It is one of our favorite shows. Bren is right, it is not filthy, you can watch with friends and family with ease.
I watch reruns and never get tired of them. There is not enough shows like NCIS on our air waves these days. Very well written. Kudos to the writers and the cast. We love them all.
I have been a fan of NCIS right from the beginning. The cast is great together altho the minor clashed between Tony and Ziva are a bit wearing at times. Mark Harmon is the right fit for the star of the show. He is stoic when he needs to be and outgoing when he needs to be but in general he is the glue that holds the show together.
I love this show a lot I was supposed to here that ziva wasn’t coming back ._.
YEAHHHHHHHH !!!!!!! I love this show and the chemisy amongst the actors and actresses. They send that through the tv into our home. Not many shows do that anymore. Also tired of all the reality shows , too many of them. Don’t every take this show off. …please
I love this show. I’m happy to hear we will be watching more episodes for the next couple of years. I’ve followed Michael since I first saw him in ?Dark Angel? (I hope that’s right).
NCIS is definitely my best show and all the cast had an individual charisma that impress me. Its the best investigation series presently even better than NCIS Los Angeles.
This show is fantastic I hope Mark Harman stays on and all the other stars. It is the type of show you can watch over and over. I hope CBS renews all contracts for 5 years next time. I live in Australia and I have many friends who watch the show even repeated shows. Keep the shows rolling. Also another good show is NCIS LA. I think they should combine these 2 shows together in some more episodes, I enjoyed the one where Abby was kidnapped in LA.
Absolutely love NCIS, watch all time. However, the extremely loud “backing” music is spoiling it for me, half the time can hardly hear the dialogue.
Can something be done about this extremely annoying distractio please.

Yes I am! Most assuredly, definitely, excited, happy! Joyful!! Please, PLEASE!!!! Keep Ducky in the show!! I felt so bad seeing him drop there on the beach 🙁 The show definitely needs Ducky!!! Although the rest of the crew is awesome as welll!! XD
NCIS is my favorite show , and I also watch reruns on cable. I’m happy that they will
return next season 2013-2014.
I am sooooooooooooooooo happy to hear this isn’t the last season. They’ve been saying tonight will be the series rather than the season finale. I heard that Michael Weatherly and David McCallum (Ducky) had signed 3 year deals last year, so I was a bit shocked. NCIS is far and away the best show on the air, and LA is developing into #2.
NCIS ROCKS!!! It’s the best TV series I have EVER watched,…it has something for everyone!!! It should N E V E R be cancelled!!! I’m not in the most popular category age-wise…at age 61…but I know a good show when I see one!!!
I LOVE NCIS. It is my favorite show. I even watch the reruns over and over again. I hope NCIS stays on TV longer than one more season. I would miss it alot. I hope it stays on for at least 2 or 3 more seasons. Love the entire cast. They could not have found better actors playing their roles.
Extremely happy that we will be entertained for at least 2 more seasons. If it were to continue forever with the same cast, we would strive to stay alive to keep watching. We can’t remember ever seeing an episode we didn’t like; nor one that didn’t keep us engrossed beginning to end. Next time negotiations begin for future episodes, please try for a 5 year contract. It’s bad enough that we are put into a 3 month suspense as to whether a cast member will die or disappear the following season, without having to go through the same emotional roller… Read more »
I love this show. It is not filthy like a lot of other shows are and still draws a giant size audiance… keep doing what you’re doing… We love NCIS
