The ratings for NCIS dropped last season but the series remained the most-watched TV show on network television. While there seems to be no chance of NCIS being cancelled, shows do get more expensive the longer they’re on the air and this one’s been around a long time. Could this be the final season or is a 13th season renewal all-but guaranteed? Stay tuned.
On NCIS, Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team of special agents continue to investigate crimes that involve the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Co-stars are Emily Wickersham, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, David McCallum, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, and Brian Dietzen.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: To no surprise, CBS has renewed NCIS for a 13th season.
Final season averages: 2.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 17.26 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The 11th season of NCIS averaged a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 18.5 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the NCIS TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a 13th season? How long should it continue?
the new femail character isn’t bad, but she is not good in any way. she brings nothing to the team that they don’t already have.. I had hope of the gay guy, but they killed him off. They really need Ziva back, and they need her bad !!!
i have been re-watching NCIS on Netflix and plan to stop at Season 11 episode 9. i have tried to like the Bishop character as i have nothing against the actress but Bishop Just does not fit in and hasn’t been able to for 40 episodes. When Kate left i wasn’t sure about Ziva but she quickly fit in and became an even richer character than Kate. But I can honestly say i am not sure if I will continue to watch season 13. If they do not find another character to fill the void that Ziva left i think… Read more »
…I love Ziva’s exploits…she is a powerful intelligent dedicated loyal yet emotionaly sensitive part of the “family”. I miss her characters interactions immensely. However, she is a tallented beautiful person/actress that must consider her future as such and if she feels her path lies elsewhere then please allow her dignity! BUT some shake up is in order….Ziva’s shoes cant be filled….thus CBS must come up with a brilliant segway to bring another lovable agent into the fold with creativity…not just plopping another body in her chair….please powers that be show some creativity and class…we are not idiots watching NCIS! Casting… Read more »
i miss zeva also and kate my it last forever. Bisop is ok i was worried when they gave ducky an assistant relax it will be fine live long and prosper. I have long been upset at usa network for monk and psyk
I like it but Bishop do not have the savy that Ziva or Kate have.
WOW! I thought my husband and I were the only ones. Placing a novice after and a poorly sketched character in the place of the exciting, carismatic and mysterious Ziva was a big error in judgment. The show lost so much when Ziva left and has yet to regain the momentum. I also agree that many of the characters have become bored and boring, they should have progressed and matured after all these years. None the less, I love this show, like having old friends over on Tuesday night. A few tweaks could reignite the fire!
Three years ago, I caught a morning of reruns of NCIS. Since then, I watch every Monday and the new episodes on Tuesdays For a show to capture and hold my interest for that long is just left of a miracle; not to mention the characters (and the actors that play thwm) have been steady and constant save 1. That’s good TV! Why mess with perfection? Renew it as many years as the actors are willing to act.
Hey, Everyone..we all are fans of the show, some obsessed then others! As a true fan, you have to stay ‘FAITHFUL’ yes, a lot of us do not care for the character that took Ziva’s place! But we kind of thought for a minute when Ziva took over for Kate’s character! So as we are true fans, that’s what we have to endure while they are still trying to figure the turns as we say!!! Let’s keep cheering on and keep watching FAITHFULLY!!!
Unfortunately we have to agree with comments re “Bishop”. She doesn’t fit in, come on
Gibbs – send her back to NSA or wherever she came from. We & many others can barely watch this year’s (in fact gave up on before over) whereas we still watch & enjoy reruns w/Kate & esp. Ziva.
Its gone downhill since Ziva left
I no at lease 60 different people that do not watch the show anymore. What they need to do is have Ziva takeing the gun from the kid and saving Gibbs. The rateing will go back up to record year . Bring her back she has said that she would like to come back. NCIS would be at the top, everyone will be watching it. It will be good with two girls working with Gibbs.
Wow so much hatred for Bishop 🙂 , the character and actress does come across as pretty bland and I do miss Ziva and the fun/vibe she brought to the show. Especially her chemistry with Tony ! But overall I think after 12 seasons the show is just getting stale, not just the characters but the writing. I mean in season 12 we had Ari’s HALF brother go after Gibbs, I mean seriously talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for a story line. Anyway with 3 NCIS shows now the whole franchise has reached an over saturation point… Read more »
I wouldn’t say, that scraped the bottom of the barrel, because Ari always said that he had family out there! It is just there was excitement with the Characters and Bishop doesn’t bring that Zing to the entourage!! They have to a woman, so it just a matter of whom! Kate was a very good fit and they chose well with Cote. Dorangant would been good if he would have survived! We just have to stay a true fan! I own all season’s..so stay true..it will get better!!
I have been an avid NCIS fan from the beginning.. but for the last 2 seasons I feel like I am watching the slow death of an old dear friend. I never thought I would stop watching but I have . Something happened when Cody left the show and it wasn’t just the loss of the character it was everything.. Bishop is horrible, doesn’t have a place , doesn’t fit in . I get the feeling that the rest of the actors are on edge because they are trying to make her look good… I’ve noticed a lot of repeats… Read more »
the well -oil machinery of NCIS was thrown for a loop when Ziva left the show. Further damage was done when a “agent” with ill defined tasks and expertise joined the show…Bishop. To this day, her character overlaps Abbey’s role, yet seems superfulous. Either get an “agent ” who serves a real purpose or let loose of Bishop…she adds nothing, and is very distracting. I’d hate to think of the security of the Navy being in her hands in any way. Is this a favorite of Mark Harmon’s ?
On NCIS, we have always loved that show…until Bishop came on. She is AWFUL! We will start watching again if you get rid of her. Until then, we will watch DVDs of older seasons without her. Please save our favorite show and let her off the show!
