What’s This TV Show About?
A Vampire Diaries spin-off, airing on The CW television network, The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires who have returned to reclaim New Orleans. In season four, the Mikaelsons reunite, only to face an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil with strong ties to their most vulnerable family member. After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, they must stand their ground and forge an alliance with those who hate them most: Marcel (Davis) and Vincent (Gatewood).
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Originals averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 940,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 15% and up by 1%, respectively. Learn how The Originals stacks up against the other CW TV shows.
On May 10, 2017, The Originals was renewed for a fifth season which will debut April 18, 2018. On July 20th, it was announced the series would end with season five. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Since The Vampire Diaries ended, Reign is ending, and it seems likely freshman dramas Frequency and No Tomorrow will not return, I suspect The CW will renew The Originals for season five. Much like this season though, I don’t expect they’ll issue a full 22 episode order. Subscribe to be notified of any cancellation or renewal news.

I would have been devasted if this show was canceled. It is one of mine & my husbands favorite shows.
Hope coming into her own. She needs to reunite with her Father, Klaus. This show is pretty much the only thing besides the Walking dead. That I will spent time watching. The Originals one of my all time Favorite shows. If cancelled. I would rather watch HBO Reruns. I would block CW from my tv viewing. On my bucket list to Visit New Orleans. Would be one step closer to be like living in the show. If you cancel. That would just suck. I’m 48 years old so there are quite a bit more of the older generation watching more… Read more »
Too True. I read the true blood series twice before anyone knew what that series was. My husband bought for me in the states. Twilight same thing. When I went to Chapters for the next book for Twilight I was told to check in the teen section.! WHAT!? I said in the teens???? I was at the time 35 or 40 so it was a shock that’s how good their to those of us who can appreciate good fantasy keep The Originals rolling!!!

I am very glad that the originals have been renewed. If not I would no longer watch any CW show. I truly live they this show and look forward, every Friday night. Klaus, one of my all time favorite TV good/bad guys who’s I had his appeture / stance. Glad to see more seasons. A totally devoted fan.
There are sooo few shows I enjoy watching on TV. I so enjoy watching the Originals!!! I so love this show. Do not cancel it. I am down to like 3 shows I enjoy watching and it is one of those 3.

Please don’t cancel The Originals, more story lines possible. VD had to end, every corner covered. Reign- Queen Mary was held in the tower, 15 yrs. by her cousin Queen Elizabeth. She hanged Queen Mary. Reign was intertaining, based loosely on facts. THE ORIGINALS is the best of the 3 shows. Please don’t cancel. Let Haley remember she was a Werewolf. She ravaged, ripped, murdered too. Elijah

Yes I love the originals I’ve never enjoyed something so much on the telly in all my life; i love klaus and Elijah, they all amazing but them 2 are my fav; I will be devistated if this show comes to a end, there’s so much more to give at least for another 3 series:)

Please for all the gods i pray too renew “The Originals” my wife and I can recite every episode well me more than her. I am a true follower of the ancient druidic faith from before the time of christianity and between supernatural and the originals i get to see things that make me proud to be a druid. Seening the Michelsons past lives and my attatchment to their true origins it would be a hanus crime to cancel them seeing as we are yet to fully explore each ones true past from their perspective.
