It’s all over but the bleeding. Executive producer Julie Plec has announced The Originals TV show will end with season five on The CW. Writer Carina MacKenzie recently confirmed there will be 13 episodes in what we now know to be the fifth and final season. “Many shows are not lucky enough to have a hand in deciding when the end has come…. Ending a show is always bittersweet, but for me, it’s a true blessing to be a part of making that choice,” Plec wrote.
A spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, which ended its eight season run earlier this year, The Originals is a supernatural drama following the Mikaelson family. They’re the world’s original vampires and are trying to reclaim New Orleans. The CW cast includes Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel.

The fourth season of The Originals averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 940,000 viewers. Compared to season three, it was down by 15% and up by 1%, respectively. Find out how The Originals stacks up against the other CW TV shows.

I Love the Originals, I wish you would keep it going for a 6th season, characters from the vampire diaries are already in or being mentioned to come into the Originals. Klauss and Caroline to start, Hope being older now, could do a spinoff of the twins with Hope, so many options…
Yes I must admit, I too like THE ORIGINALS, it is just a cut above the usual vampire trope, which usually are far too girly and weak .
Nooooooooo!!!!! I LOVE THE ORIGINALS!!! Please keep it Alive!! And going!!! Never in my life have I ever enjoyed a tv series as much as I have enjoyed and followed THE VAMPIRE DIARIES AND THE ORIGINALS!!! One of them is no longer with us, please don’t take both!! SEASON 6-? Forever?!

Please do not cancel the Originals at five season there is so much more that can be done with the show and the cast is awesome.
Season five sounds like it could be fitting for a end in this amazing tv series. I truly enjoy watching the show and I would definitely miss it.

I love the show but was extremely disappointed this last season, not just with the story line but the amount of episodes as well. The decision to cut the series episodes by half hasn’t helped gain viewers for sure… I will watch the next season hoping it is better than this last one!
I really wish this show would continue! They’ve taken The Vampire Diaries off the air. The Original is a great series! We all need some vampires and witches in our lives. Please don’t end this show!

I would love for this show to continue. I love it & actually thought that some of the Vampire Diaries characters would show up at least as guests. I miss the Vampire Diaries & now I’m going to lose The Originals too? Not fair!

I hear you. I go to my Netflix and there all on. I have watched The vampire diarires OMG I don’t even want to admit how many it’s a lot.
This doesn’t seem smart. This is a very good quality show, better than most on CW, and would continue to grow a bigger and bigger fan base if it was allowed to continue. I can tell they were floundering for a story line to compete with the first few seasons when they brought in the “hollow” thing, but come on. So many directions it could go. So many great actors/characters. So sad to let it go.
