Things were a little touch and go for awhile but NBC has now renewed Parenthood for a sixth season. It will be the last season and the cast and crew will have 13 episodes to say goodbye.
Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
The series has never been a ratings hit for NBC but it has remained a pretty consistent performer with a devoted fanbase. This season, the ratings took a pretty dramatic downturn, dropping 20-30% compared to the fourth season. Shows like Revolution, Growing Up Fisher, and Believe all had better ratings but they were cancelled.
The network wanted to cut costs so they could bring the large ensemble series back for a final season but members of the cast reportedly didn’t want to agree to a smaller-than-usual episode guarantee. A compromise was eventually made.
We should have a better idea this week when season six will begin airing.
What do you think? Are you glad that Parenthood has been renewed for a final season? Would you like to see a seventh season or do you think this is the right time to end it?
I love this show as it is one of a few that is clean and decent for a family to sit down and wTch together.!please reconsider canceling this show.!
i am going to miss Parenthood and its whole cast, it’s a wonderful show and I never miss it.
Please don’t cancel this wonderful show ! The people are so real with fantastic natural acting. Every character is excellent and the storylines are great! It is so refreshing to see a tv show that isn’t a reality show or one full of violence! This is a real family with real problems.
Please continue parenthood. It is my favorite show on tv. I dont even watch anything else . It has so much meaning to it. And the actors play their role so good.
I find it totally frustrating that this shoe which was smart, well written and perfectly casted has to “compete” with the trash that gets higher rating because they are simpleminded- sex-violence and laughter taped so called comedies. What happened to the pride of doing the “good stuff” even if the ratings are not there. Shame on you NBC.

Great show obvi applying to the masses
I agree with everything you said!!!!
I LOVE “Parenthood”!!! It’s one of THE BEST shows on TV!!!
PLEASE KEEP IT ON FOR SEVERAL MORE SEASONS!!!
The Bravermans are real – Please do not kill Zeke !
I am hooked on this series. I have watched all 5 seasons on Netflix. anxiously awaiting for the 6th season to come to netflix. when will that happen? i don’t understand why such a great show would be taken off the air?? I am so sick of “reality” shows that are just plain nonsense!! Parenthood is about what family should be about and I feel so connected to this show. reminds me of my own family and the family values that I share with my children and grandchildren. Please bring it back to TV!!
Season 6 is still airing on the network. I would think you’ll be waiting a while for Netflix….
Parenthood is the best show on tv. Please DON’T cancel it!
another season- Please!!!!
Parenthood is seriously the only show I watch! I would love for it to continue! A seventh season is definitely on my wishlist! I love the Braverman’s and their devotion to family and values. Most shows on TV are full of garbage. Don’t take away a good wholesome show!
Plots and story lines were much simpler and focused in early seasons. Became too convoluted with multiple, complicated storylines, and little to no closure from issue to issue. Became too busy – easy to lose interest this and last season. All of that said, will miss some of the characters. Sad to see the network cancel it, in favor of weird shows with zero cultural value – zombie-like stupidity.
ANOTHER SEASON
This a great show and wish you would not cancel a great show
First time i saw this show, i thought it was a bit “too rehearsed” everyone so ready with their quippy replies and zinger-filled lines it just moved too fast and too perfect to be real. It almost gave the impression they were trying to save film……… That said, i ended up falling in love with the show and for me it became one of the best series ever. I hate to see it end, but such is network television….you know make sure to push the PC agenda: throw some mixed race couples, some same sex lovers, a special needs family… Read more »
