FX is trying another 10/90 deal with the Partners TV show. If the ratings for the first season of 10 episodes hit a certain ratings threshold, the cable channel has committed to ordering a 90-episode second season. Anger Management had a similar deal and was renewed. Saint George did too but it was cancelled. How will Partners perform? Stay tuned.
On Partners, a snobby lawyer (Kelsey Grammer) and an overly ethics-driven lawyer (Martin Lawrence) become partners and end up helping each other get their lives in order. The rest of the cast includes McKaley Miller, Telma Hopkins, Danièle Watts, Rory O’Malley, and Edi Patterson.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
8/19 update: It doesn’t look good for the Partners TV show on FX.
Final season averages: 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 72,000 total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to locate so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you like the Partners TV series? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I think the show has a lot of potential. I think FX should renew it for one more season. This 10/90 thing they are trying puts a lot of pressure on show.
Great show, but a victim of circumstance. 6 of the 10 shows were up against extensive coverage of Robin William’s untimely death, the Emmy’s, and on Labor Day. In addition to being shown Monday in the middle of Summer, devoid of any real promotion, they’ve had a tough nut to crack. The good news is that if Partners gets picked up, we will have a wonderful show to look forward to, with an excellent cast and great writing. It’s about time we have a new entertaining and extremely funny show to watch weekly
This show is soooo funny and based on Kelsey Grammer previous shows and Martin Lawrence movies it will only get better. I wish the network gives this show a chance.
Renew the show. I am so tired of every comedy on network TV being aimed at the 20 something or 30 something crowd. There are more of us out there and we are the ones who spend money on the products advertised. There has to be an answer to Netflix on Cable TV.
Love the show. It is really funny. Hope it stays on.
I don’t want Partners to be cancelled. I’ve watched it every Monday without even missing one episode. It always makes me laugh when I watch it. FX would be making a stupid mistake if they cancelled it.
I really really hope they renew it.
I think this show is brilliant, funny, smart and refreshing. I think it will be a giant mistake if it is not given a chance. It’s much funnier than Anger Management and a whole lot of other dumb comedies on tv right now. Renew the show!
I like this show and feel it has potential. Trying to evaluate a show after only 1 month (and that month being August when tv viewing is low across the board since people are on vacations or out enjoying the last bit of summer), is not a good measurement of success. FX needs to do a better job of promotion if they want their shows to truly work. Many of my friends didn’t even know this show existed.
Loving every episode since the premiere (as does my mother) and we would both be extremely disappointed if it weren’t renewed. Please FX, do NOT pull the plug on this fantastic show that keeps getting better and better as the characters are finally developing and the cast’s chemistry is starting to gel! The writing, BTW, is also phenomenal.
Big fan of both main actors. Love the one liners and jokes by writers. Good show to just take a break and laugh. Hope this show stays on. Think it is as good as Anger Management. Needs a few more than 10 show for the cast to play off each other even better.
Been watching. After six episodes this show is really starting to deliver despite FX’ obvious mishandling of a potential hit! My 91 year old father even loves this show! What we both hate are the MASSIVE and LENGTHY commercial interruptions- to the point the ad time is longer than show time. Who can stay focussed on the story, or even remember what show you were watching, or care when they do this to the flow of the show???!!!! The show itself has great moments, once it’s on! And each episode seems to be getting better. I remember how awful Drew… Read more »
I hope the show doesn’t get cancelled, it’s one of the only shows I actually plan to watch each week. One of the issues I see is the supporting cast. I don’t think all of the characters mesh. I think they were just thrown together to see what works and what doesn’t, hopefully. I never watched Frasier back in the day, but I heard it was good. I do know hat Martin’s show was very funny. It was one of the shows we reacted in school the next day. I don’t really watch much TV as I did in the… Read more »
Partners is funny, beyond just chuckles. It’s gotten better with each episode. I have always liked Kelsey Grammer but never been a big fan. However I enjoyed his dramatical preformance in Boss and the few episodes of the comedy sitcom Cheers that I’ve watched. His acting range is impressive to me Seeing Kelsey twerk was priceless. Martins character was a little concerning in the first 2 episodes. I do see Martin settling and being more comfortable with his new role. The chemistry between the two main characters has also improved. These are good signs to continue. If you check out… Read more »
I think Partners needs an update in cast, maybe writers as well. The writing for Martin and Kelsey is pretty good and is close to being able to carry the show on it’s own, however the writing for the two daughters is sub par, the writing for the two employees is the worst.
Watching those two say their lines is painful, uninteresting and a reason to change the channel.
It was fun to see Michael Gross play two different characters back to back on Partners then on Anger Management.
I think Partners is one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a good long while. It’s not easy making a show that is funny and thought-provoking, and FX has succeeded with this one. I hope it lasts past ten episodes; it’s hilarious. Partners is the third reason I have for tuning in to FX now, Tyrant and The Strain being the other two. I’m looking forward to more of this show. 🙂
