Penn and Teller have returned to search for magicians who can stump them. Will they find some? Will the Penn & Teller: Fool Us TV show find good ratings for The CW? Will the TV series be renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned.
Now hosted by Alyson Hannigan, Penn & Teller: Fool Us showcases talented magicians as they perform their acts for comedic illusionists Penn Jillette and Teller. If they can fool the duo, they win the opportunity to perform in Penn and Teller’s Las Vegas act.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/15 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The second season of Penn & Teller: Fool Us averaged a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.81 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Penn & Teller: Fool Us TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I think if they had a different “celebrity” host each week the show would be a better ratings success. Of course, that’s pretty unlikely with the way they shoot the show and piecemeal-edit it together (they edit a show from individual performances, and do not tape a complete show from beginning to end…that’s why they don’t wear different outfits.)
Good show. Keep it on.
So you notice that Allison wears the same dress but fail to notice that Penn and Teller wear the same suit each show?
Will somebody PLEASE tell Allison that she needs to wear a different dress! She should wear a different dress for EVERY show. Her competence as a hostess is not terrible, but her wardrobe choice is ridiculous!

I’m a fan of Alyson Hannigan’s but I have to agree that she is absolutely terrible on Fool Us. I hope she gets better as time goes on but it’s seriously hard to watch her up there. Also, I know they film a few episodes in a day but is she seriously not going to do a wardrobe change the entire season? The blue dress is getting old. That’s just me.
She does need to get a wardrobe change and the gig does not seem to be natural for her. I enjoy the show, in general and would not like to see it go off, because of the hostess.

I was a fan of Allison on Buffy but she makes me cringe on Fool Us. Jonathan was smooth and natural with the guests. Poor Allison is so forced that she actually makes me uncomfortable. The guest even said she was the worst assistant he ever had. She really was ! Does anyone write some kind of a script for her ? She never seems to know what to say. I don’t like to watch the show as much because of her.
Why did they drop Jonathon?
I don’t think he was dropped per-se but had too many other commitments to film the 3rd season.
According to Penn on PennsSundaySchool, it was strictly a scheduling issue. Jonathan had commitments in England that he couldn’t get out of. There was just no way to make it work.
Great show and Allyson Hannigan is a very good host. Like her better than Jonathan. Keep it on!
What (apart from pronouncing the letter “R”) did Alyson Hannigan do better than Jonathan Ross? I like Alyson a great deal, but one wouldn’t expect an actress with no prior emcee gigs to outperform a comedian whose experience as a television host goes back three decades. I’m willing to give her a chance to improve, but I can’t say that I find her initial efforts encouraging.
The new hostess is really horrible. I had to change channels as she sucks big time! Sorry
