Will Project Blue Book continue? Recently, executive producers Sean Jablonski and David O’Leary spoke with Syfy Wire about the future of the cancelled History TV show.
Inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aiden Gillen), the drama series is based on the real-life, top-secret investigation into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and related activity, conducted in the 1950s and ’60s by the United States Air Force. The cast also includes Michael Malarkey, Laura Mennell, Ksenia Solo, Michael Harney, and Neal McDonough.
Even though History has cancelled Project Blue Book, Jablonski and O’Leary are shopping a third season to other networks and platforms. During a recent episode of Syfy Wire’s Project Blue Book podcast, the two EPs discussed their efforts to save the show and their season three plans.
From O’Leary:
We’re fortunate in that everybody involved remains committed to trying to find our show a second home, and to continue. We feel it’s unfinished. And I’m sure our fans feel it’s unfinished.
We pitched [HISTORY] Season 3 because we actually had a [writers’] room going, and we broke episodes,” O’Leary shares. “What’s so hard for us is that it’d just be such a shame for our fans to not know where it’s going and where we can continue it to go because we’ve already done all that heavy lifting.”
And what are their season three plans? Jablonski says Quinn will be involved:
Obviously, we’re gonna bring Quinn back in early on. He’s an integral part of the show. And I think something important to remember is that UFO sightings peaked worldwide in 1954. It was a global phenomenon.”
Jablosnki also added that if season three does not find a home on TV, there’s always the chance of a graphic novel:
Here’s the thing, we’ve moved so far beyond our Season 2 that we’ve also talked through Season 4. The characters are so great. I could see a version of a book, of a graphic novel, or like a smaller Quibi type version that investigates certain cases.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Project Blue Book? Do you want a third season?
Please don’t cancel project blue book. I think its the best show on TV.
Bernie De Vold. I am a big fan of the show and would hope they can find s way to bring on a 3erd season….this show brings out facts ideas that are real why does area 51 Exist because it is real and the government does not want use to know the truth…as vast as this universe is we cannot be alone…so this show helps define the truth…think about it razwell was back in 1942 or 45. But the government still does mot want us to know……Bring back the show.
..thank u.
I love Project Blue Book. Please bring it back. Great show good drama and I like the way they do the show. At the end of the show they reveal the real story. Please bring it back
I can’t believe it! I love this show!!!!
With that cliff hanger of an ending the need for a third season is absolute! Please don’t leave us hanging! There has to be someone who will pick up this Amazing storyline.
Why not start a fund to finance it? Look for investors.
I am looking forward to seeing you produce the third season. It’s a must do!
Loved the show, and so did my wife. It was the only History channel show she watched. What a bonehead move to cancel it. Go EP’s find a new network, we will follow.
This is actually good news. History was dumb to cancel this successful series. But now the producers and show runners can find a home on Amazon where they can be free in content to fully utilize these outstanding actors. History was the wrong home for such a show. On Amazon it can be hard hitting like it should be.
Let’s hope Amazon picks it up, then! 😀
In order to call Amazon’s attention, though, we should all be signing and sharing the petition that is going on on change(.)org and using the tag #SaveBlueBook on all our social media platforms.
After watching 2 seasons of Project Bluebook and having it cancelled is definitely disappointing. The series is great with an excellent cast, I hope they bring it back for several more seasons at least.
Please bring back Project Blue Book! It is one of the few intelligent tv shows on. I really hope someone picks this up.
I loved the show. I would like to see the show continue. There were so many unsolved cases that are open to interpretation. The cases would be episodes with responsibility motivated explanations.
Find PBB a HOME!!
Sincerely,
Steven Rosbury
There once was a little program called” Star Trek” that Network folks didn’t get. With all of the unfortunate”reality type crap” that seems to be the flavor of the month these days, an actual attention grabbing well written/acted drama comes along , goes just two (short) seasons and gets canceled!?!? . This is why I don’t watch Major Network programming anymore, looks like the History Channel will be added to my list.
Shocked!!! What are you thinking, History Channel??? LOVE THIS SHOW!
Please stop cancelling all the good tv show’s
I think it’s a shame that one of the best shows on TV, for adults, is being pulled at a time when there’s not much on but old shows and shows of poor taste. People everywhere are aware and curious about such events. As much as we feel we should deny it to ourselves, both my husband and I have experienced an event that we can’t explain other than a UFO. We are not given to the fantasy or other -worldly mentality, yet here we are. Considering all that is going on in this crazy world of ours, I think… Read more »

It was my favourite show on History… I cannot think why they chose to axe this. Get rid of swamp people first.
