Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Proof TV show on TNT? If you ran the cable channel, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?
Great show…please renew for another season!
Please don’t cancel Proof! There needs to be another season…this is a fabulous show…so much life and so many possibilities left to explore…PLEASE!!!!
I really enjoyed this show and believe that it should be renewed for another season. I will be very disappointed if it does not return.
Hello,
Please don’t cancel “Proof” as I live in Australia and this is (finally!) a great new show
about something interesting and different…not just violence, sex and building houses to win money (when you aren’t even remotely a builder) and stupid other reality shows that a person needs no brain cells to watch. It started a little slow, but all good series do! I couldn’t wait to see the next episodes after ep2….and now you’re thinking of canning it?? ………PLEASE DON’T our minds need it and we LOVE it !!!
please do not cancel this series; however, do not make things up. keep it real. we have to much killings, profanity, sex in the series, movies these days. give us finally something clean to watch. I wish someone would write some clean movies. our world is going to satan every second..May God Bless us….
BAD move if you cancel. I really enjoyed it and all the conversations that come from the show. Please keep it. It is nice to have a feel good, non violent show to watch.
Please keep the show on! Love all the characters. Maybe change the day or time if it would help but don’t take it off PLEASE!!!!!!
Please renew. A very interesting show – I love the characters.
Just started watching the show on demand and I really like it. Definitely think it should be renewed.
Love the show the more I watched the more I love it. Love Jennifer Beals and the actors that appeared on House MD all great. Please Renew this show can only get better.
Great show……something different and appealing…….would be extremely disappointed if it did I not return for a second season!
love the concept of the show.. season 1 just skimmed the surface.. definitely worth another season to see where it goes.. the different story lines all come together..very well written and directed..
At first I didn’t think I’d like the lead character. She was too arrogant – the kind of arrogant that makes people not want to go to see their physician. But she gradually came around. I like the concept. Yes, it should be renewed. The other characters are well played.
Loved this show. Something positive and uplifting. Please keep it going!
Love this show
It is a good show dealing with an important subject. It merits a second season and perhaps an expanded scope.
