A couple of years ago, Edward Burns appeared in a TNT limited series called Mob City. It didn’t perform very well in the ratings. Now, he’s back on the network in a much bigger role — as an actor, director, and writer. Will Public Morals be a success for Burns and the cable channel? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Set in early 1960s New York City, Public Morals revolves around the professional and personal lives of the members of the NYPD’s Public Morals Division. They enforce the vice laws that are still on the books but that no one wants to enforce — prohibiting crimes like gambling and prostitution. The large cast includes Edward Burns, Michael Rapaport, Elizabeth Masucci, Katrina Bowden, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Wass Stevens, Keith Nobbs, Austin Stowell, Patrick Murney, Lyndon Smith, Brian Wiles, and Cormac Cullinane.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 880,000 total viewers.

What do you think? Do you like watching the Public Morals TV series on TNT? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Best new show by far. Great acting and writing as well as cast. Don’t make the mistake of cancelling. TNT great job I would promote it more once people see it they will be hooked.
Public Morals is a winner must see TV
Public Morals is a terrific show that must be renewed. I’ve watched every episode because it’s an intriguing drama story with top notch actors. Sure it probably turns off some people because of the rough stuff, but, that’s reality. If a few things have to be tweeked, figure it out somehow, okay. It would be unforgivable if TNT decides to cancel after just 10 episodes. I was shocked to see the results from the ratings. I think TNT should renew it for another try but maybe pick a different day, like on a Friday night when most people can stay… Read more »
ITA. Great show, just on at the wrong time/day. We DVR’d every episode and watched them the next day or later that night.
Shout out to EB: yes: awesome job, just wish you got more support (aka advertising) from TNT.
Love the show and want to see more. Definitely want a second season…
This is a great show. I would like to see its second season ratings. It just takes time for viewers to catch on. Second seasons do come out on top when you have a talented cast such as this one. Please renew!
Love the show please don’t cancel it.
We have really enjoyed public morals and would love to see to renewed for an additional season. My question: why does everything have a green cast to it? Walls, clothes, coats, hats, police headquarters? Is it just the Irish way?
I hope this gets renewed, it’s a great series!!! Please consider keeping this great series!!!!
Aaaand this is the ratings they cancelled “Proof” for? no doubt this is a good show but “Proof” performed better in this time-slot, whoever made the decision to replace “Proof” with “Public Morals” needs to be fired, they know nothing about programming.
They should have moved Proof to Sundays and Public Morals to Fridays, due to type of viewers each show appeals to.
Love Public Morals! Please renew! Great cast!!! Edward Burns has done a remarkable job. One of best shows this season. Always look forward to watching it.
renewed great show
This show is needs to be renewed. Like all great shows like Breaking Bad and others it takes awhile to build viewers. I feel like so many people DVR things and binge watch. I watched the entire season over the holiday weekend it was offered and it was AMAZING!! this is definitely Emmy worthy television. MUST GET RENEWED!!
this show must be renewed, its solid, entertaining please enough of these stupid reality shows, lets get back to common sense television programming otherwise people are just going to watch movies not tv.
love this show !
My wife and I really enjoy and hope it is renewed. Can never get enough of Brian Dennehy.
Much more realistic than all those shows where forensic science solves crimes in no time which doesn’t happen in real life.
After what Serpico and Lucci revealed, I’m sure that the corruption depicted existed in the 60s.
Great show with a talented cast. A vote it will get renewed!!!
