Last week, we reported that FOX is developing Rambo: New Blood, a TV series spin-off of Sylvester Stallone’s popular Rambo film franchise. Now, Deadline is reporting that Stallone will not be involved in the project in any capacity.
The series will center on the relationship between John Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL.
Initially, reports indicated Stallone would be a producer of the series, with the question of whether he would star still unclear. Now, Stallone has announced he will “not to participate in the planned Rambo television series in any way at all.”
The project is still in development, with writer Jeb Stuart attached, but it is now unclear whether the series will go ahead at FOX without Stallone’s involvement.
What do you think? Are you a Rambo fan? Would you watch a Rambo series without Stallone?
The Rambo franchise has Sly Stallone’s persona etched into its DNA. Without Stallone involved in the story, let alone the production, you’d have fans looking for the missing piece of every week’s episode.
