It may not be the end of the line for TV’s favorite fixer. The Ray Donovan TV show has been cancelled by Showtime but series star Liev Schreiber now says Ray’s story’s not over.
Season seven of Ray Donovan stars Schreiber, Alan Alda, Zach Grenier, Jon Voight, Dash Mihok, Eddie Marsan, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey, and Graham Rogers. The series centers on professional fixer Ray Donovan (Schreiber), who’s working to be the man his family needs him to be. While he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (Alda), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old. Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Grenier), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself. And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past (Voight) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions.
The seventh season of Ray Donovan averaged a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 932,000 viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 3% in viewership.
Despite being one of the cable channel’s highest-rated shows, Showtime cancelled the series earlier this month and left the series with unresolved cliffhangers. Fans and showrunner David Hollander were shocked by the cancellation. Hollander later said that there were plans to wrap up the show with an eighth and final season.
Fans of the long-running series haven’t been quiet about their disappointment and it seems that Showtime may be rethinking the decision to cancel the show. Schreiber wrote, “It’s hard to describe how amazing it feels to those of us in the Ray Donovan family who have been lucky enough to experience the overwhelming love and support that all of you have expressed for our show since the news broke that Ray would not return. What’s even more incredible is that it seems your voices have been heard. Too soon to say how or when, but with a little luck and your ongoing support, there will be more Ray Donovan. So to all the Donofans who got their bats out and beat the odds. Thank you.”
Of the possibility of reviving the show, Hollander said, “I would never say never. It is much easier to do in the now. The sets are still standing. The people are still contracted. The mechanisms are in place. Once we tear down the sets and put the costumes away… it’s a lot of actors who are in demand.”

Bring it back for season 8 and then there would be closure to the best show on tv!!!

I am shocked that Showtime would cancel such a winning show! I love the show and hope they will reconsider.
Renewing this show is a no brainer financially.
Hype Season 8 as the “Fixer’s Finale “ with all the characters subplots and stories. I could monetize this myself.
Best show on Television canceling this year would be a travesty
I can’t see how you can’t give one of your best shows the ending it earned. Fans remember this sort of treatment and are then less interested in supporting new shows.
A full season would be great, but even a one off 2hour special to tie up the loose ends would do. Very disrespectful to let a long running, popular and respected show just end without closure.
Always enjoyed Ray Donovan but about three quarters of the way through, felt it was losing some impact and a sense of direction, Then the last series came along with improved stoeylines and the whole thing took on a new lease of life. So it was a real shame to hear it was being axed. Yes, please being it back for a final series or at least a long length conclusion so we can all get a bit of closure with this wonderful series.
Please don’t leave us hanging with unanswered questions. It’s not fair to those of us who have followed Ray Donovan faithfully since day 1. This my favourite show and I am anxiously awaiting another season. Thank you

Yes we need an ending to this great show with all its great actors. After seven years it DESERVES a proper ending. At least give us a reasonable amount of episodes to close it out. PLEASE PLEASE
Ray Donovan should be continued on Showtime. You don’t leave ab audience hanging like that! We deserve better and pay for this channel and have a right to view programs we like!
I will not cancel Showtime yet. I really love Ray Donovan and was extremely upset when I read that it was cancelled. Please bring it back for another season. It is a wonderful, creative show with a great cast. Why would Showtime even consider cancelling it?
