Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.
Rise: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Rise averaged a 0.85 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.44 million viewers. Find out how Rise stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
So sad this show is cancelled. Josh Radnor is fantastic and deserves more starring rolls. I love all of Jason Katims shows. The final episode was absolutely excellent. I want to see what happens next in the series. Season 2 could be about trying to restore the theater department.
I watched it every week with my 12 year old son! We were riveted every week!! It was so amazing to have a show we could watch together! PLEASE RECONSIDER AND RENEW RISE for season 2!!!!!!
I Can not believe RISE was cancelled. I looked forward to it every week. The story lines were amazing it showed what our youth go thru on a daily basis. PLEASE!!! Bring It Back!! I’m so disappointed
I would absolutely renew it for a second season!!! It was so suspenseful & the acting was amazing!!! NBC, please reconsider!!!!
I loved this show! Josh Radnor was fabulous as Mr. Mazzu. He played his character with such emotion and passion. I also loved all tbe kids – what really great acting & singing! The writing in Rise was wonderful, as was the background music used in scenes. This show was a QUALITY show, much like Friday Night Lights. It just needed more promotion and time to fimd its audience. It’s a damn shame to pull the plug on something this special.
I enjoyed this show and it did made me cry and laugh. Also can relate to some of the characters. I really hope it will get a chance for season 2 and bring new characters that viewers can relate with a positive outcome.
Rise was a great show. I hope someone picks it up for season 2!
I loved every episode of Rise. It is amongst my top 5 favorites this season and I’m extremely disappointed that it is not being renewed.
Disappointed yet again…Two of my shows are cancelled, Designated Survivor and the Rise. I thought I would try watching something new this year, so I started watching the Rise, as I generally tend to watch hospital and cop shows. The Rise was just a down to earth show with everyday issues, I’m sorry to see that it has been cancelled.
Love this show. Please don’t cancel. Wonderful characters and writing.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T CANCEL!!! This is an AMAZING tv show. I have never been so in love with a tv show. I waited every week to watch this show. My family knew not to bug me every week when Rise was on!!! How do we save it!!!!
I was left with looking forward to the next season what a let down when I searched to see when it would be coming back on, then read that it was canceled. Please bring it back
Once again, a very vibrant, well written and acted program is being struck down far too soon. I loved this program and made sure to watch it faithfully every week. Someone made a bad call in cancelling this program. My only hope is another network will pick this program up and give it a chance to “Rise!”.
I love the show ! It ‘s one of the best I’ve seen in a long time, even better than a favorite I have “This Is Us”. I can not believe they canceled the show. Hopefully another network will pick it up.
We live near the real life Stanton (Bristol, PA). Lou and Tracy made a huge difference in the lives of the kids who preformed or did tech in the Truman drama department. I watched every episode and laughed and cried with the characters. What can we do to save this show? How do we get another network to pick it up?
This show made such an impact on me and my daughter! I am so disappointed that this awesome show and cast have been cancelled. Instead, we glorify the likes of the Kardashians, and reality garbage. Such a shame.
It’s a great show please don’t cancel it, I was looki forward to the next season
