What’s This TV Show About?
An NBC high school drama from Jason Katims and Jeffrey Seller, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected. Soon though, the faculty, student body, and even the town residents find themselves caught up in the new spirit at the school.

Telly’s Take
Will NBC cancel or renew Rise for season two? The ratings have been pretty poor so a renewal seems like a longshot. However, the series has generated some positive buzz so, that might just be enough to get it a second season. I’ll keep a hungry on the ratings and update this page with breaking developments. Please renew Rise. Good show jus like Parenthood n Friday Night Lights!!
This show is incredible! I relate with the passion of a teacher. I empathize as a parent who struggles to lead by example. My family is finding common ground connecting on this side of the screen. Please do not discontinue a series that changes one’s perspective of this reality we call LIFE.
I Love this show !!!!! Please don’t cancel it. It is a great, real life like reflection of American Life .
I love this show! So true to life and I love how the real life of the characters mirrors Spring Awakening. The writing and acting are excellent. I hope the show gets renewed
Great show! Please don’t cancel!!
I think this show is excellent. A beautifully written, acted and presented show. Glee was hokey, Friday Night Lights was great. And so is Rise. I hope quality shows like this are permitted to keep shining.
Hated Glee, LOVED Friday Night Lights. The heavy-handed acting and lack of humor on Rise ruin what might have been a decent concept. The beauty of FNL was the “rough around the edges” dialogue, the humor, and the incredible casting. This is most definitely not that!! Bring back FNL!!!!
I really don’t think this show will make it, so it probably will.
IMO it’s really bad. I turned it off at about the 20 minute mark.
