CBS has cancelled its Scorpion TV show after four seasons. The season, which began with a musical episode, weill be this series’ swan song.
A CBS action drama, Scorpion stars Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, Eddie Kay Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Robert Patrick, Riley B. Smith, Andy Buckley, Jamie McShane, Joshua Leonard, Dan Dratch, and Scott Porter. Inspired by a real-life computer expert, the series centers on Walter O’Brien (Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits. Team Scorpion is the country’s last line of defense against lurking high-tech threats.
Scorpion: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of Scorpion is averaging a 0.81 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.26 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by about 32% and down by 27%, respectively. By both measures, Scorpion is consistently among the lowest rated scripted CBS TV shows.
All told, today CBS cancelled two TV shows: Superior Donuts and Scorpion. The network also renewed five series: Criminal Minds (season 14); Man With a Plan (season three); Life in Pieces (season four); Instinct (season two); and Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (season two).
UPDATE: CBS has cancelled Kevin Can Wait and has renewed Elementary for season seven.
Deadline has confirmed the Scorpion cancellation.
What do you think? Did you think CBS would cancel or renew Scorpion for season five? Now that it’s over, did it end at the right time, or should the network have given it another season to wrap up? Sound off, in the comments.
And another thing….You bring back big brother “celebrity edition”? Wtf is wrong with you people. This is Ludacris! Great shows always get the can.
This really really sucks! I love this show! It has the perfect amount of humor, science, real life situations and overall badass problem solving. It makes people want to know more about everything. I will be saddened to not see the Scorpion Team get reunited and ride off into the sunset as a team once again. Terrible ending. Script writers should never write again. Even one last farewell episode to allow them to have to work together and become one would be better then this ending.
Super sad that Scorpion has been canceled. None of the story lines are wrapped up and there it is still such a fun, entertaining show to watch. It is the only show to watch on Monday nights and I hope that maybe it can be picked up by another network or maybe even Netflix.
I can’t believe they cancelled scorpion..
I’m not even from the US and I loved that show I saw it on the internet and fall in love with the characters ,the plot and the way this team solved his problems.
It can’t be done like that – do a fifth season for a better closer.
There are so few good shows on tv but this was one of them. So far three very good shows have been cancelled by networks. I’m sad this show wasn’t wrapped up and won’t have a chance to do so. Seems like network tv is just going to be more garbage. Shame on the execs. And they wonder why people are watching Netflix and Hulu.
I was extremely disappointed that Scorpion was canceled. I do not watch much TV, but this was a show I never missed. I loved all the actors and the story line.
One of my favorite shows, booo to how they ended it. I want a proper send off. . . . Someone PLEASE pick this show up. (I never failed to laugh and be entertained).
I am extremely sad at the news of Scorpion being cancelled. My family looked forward to every Monday night to watch it together…and kept it on our dvr to watch a few more times. I’m hoping that someone sees that WE THE PEOPLE do not want it to end and someone will pick it up… please. We need to find out what happens with Toby & Happy and a baby, Sly deserves Love, and Walter and Paige… come on..they can’t be done like that!?!?!? Agent Gallo and his woman just found each other! Then young Ralph…just coming into himself…he needs… Read more »
Let them do a final season so the audience has closure on this intelligent (for the most part) show.
Really liked the team work spirit demonstrated despite all their differences & serious nerd foibles. It’s really ashame to end it before season 5–too many loose ends in various relationships.
Bring Scorpion back! The show is great. The story lines are good. If CBS doesn’t want it maybe TBS or ABC can pick it up.
One of my favorite shows. Loved the cast, they melded well together. Interesting storyline and it showed real issues that “nerds” deal with and real life type solutions rather than the comedy that we usually see dealing with any kind of mental disability. They help each other deal with the fears and phobias, and the shyness and exclusion that many highly intelligent people deal with. Not only a fun show to watch, but an important one as well.
it was a bad decision to end it with this last episode! Fans are upset, the plot is way off what the story line was trying to convey thoughout the 4 seasons. Worst ever Series ending… I hope someone picks it up, if only to give it a more facourable finish
Scorpion was one of the best things happening on Monday nights. It was very challenging to see the unexpected ways they would solve problems . Please return it to your line up
We loved watching Scorpion. It was one of our favorites!!!! Bring it back!!!!!
