The first season of The Shannara Chronicles is ending next week, and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar already have season two in mind. The two recently spoke with Collider about the series’ upcoming season one finale and their plans for season two of the MTV TV show.
The Shannara Chronicles stars Austin Butler, Poppy Drayton, and Ivana Baquero as three unlikely heroes on a quest to defeat a demonic army.
Speaking to Collider, Gough said the season one finale will have a sense of closure, but it will also leave room for another season:
Hopefully, it will be both. There’s certainly a sense of closure, but you see the doors open for subsequent seasons.”
Millar added:
We liked the idea that it was a contained season, following the story of theElfstones, and it has an amazing ending that’s a really bold way to end the season. But, it also opens it up for future seasons. We leave a lot of people in jeopardy.”
The season one finale of The Shannara Chronicles airs next Tuesday, March 1st, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

What do you think? Have you been watching the first season of The Shannara Chronicles? Do you want a second season?
Would definitely luv a season 2!! Its like what happened to middle earth after the Lord of the Rings and the Reign of Man that followed. It gives us an idea of what happens to our world once man has fallen. I like its new view on things but still keeps that wonderful land of magic & monsters alive!! Please keep it going!!
The Shannara Chronicles is an excellent series, I liked that it’s first season ended on a closure and left optimism for many more seasons. The actors and writing are first rate. A refreshing addition to my viewing pleasure. I hope that season 2 is not to far off. I will wait with the greatest anticipation.
I absolutely love this show. Fell in love with the characters right from the beginning. Please bring this back as soon as possible.

I am a long time fan of the books. I liked this show ok, but there is a lot more disappointments then enjoyments. I was so exited when i first heard this show was getting made. I hate that they started with elf stones though, thats the middle of the books trilogy. But I can understand there reasons there primary demographic is teens. But with each new episoide the show just keeps getting more and more boring. I kept watching and holding out hope that after this season they would progress the story to the 3ard book wishsong. Then from… Read more »
I loved it! It’s has so many analogies for life and the possible future of our planet! It’s has much more power to spread the ideology of the books to a generation that is going to be faced with great change in their life and the lives of there descendants! Please continue to use this show as a sounding board for the future of humanity! Only by coming toghter as one human race can we truly conquer true evil that envelopes the world as we speak!
Well, it’s a faaaar cry from the books, so I think I would only like one season, thank you very much! That way I only have to bleach my brain once…
Please, please bring back Shannara Chronicles for many more seasons. It’s awesome!!
“But, it also opens it up for future seasons. We leave a lot of people in jeopardy.” This is where the Mrs. dropped the f-bomb. I made a fan out of her afterall 🙂
