Deadline reports Cleo Anthony has joined the She’s Got to Have It TV show at Netflix. Anthony played Ares in the second season of Extant. CBS cancelled the Halle Berry sci-fi drama in 2015. Anthony has been cast as photographer Greer Childs, a former model and one of Nola Darling’s (DeWanda Wise) lovers, in She’s Got to Have It.
The new series is a present-day reboot of Spike Lee’s 1986 feature film. She’s Gotta Have It follows Darling, a Brooklyn-based free-spirited artist, as she tries to balance her career and friends, as well as three lovers.
Anthony Ramos previously joined as another of Darling’s lovers — sneakerhead Mars Blackmon — Lee’s role in the 1986 movie. In the new series, Blackmon is now also a social-media phenom.
What do you think? How do you like the sound of the She’s Gotta Have It TV series? Do you plan to stream She’s Gotta Have It, when it drops to Netflix?
Wow. who thought it was a good idea to let Spike Lee write a comedy about women? For all the good work he does about racial issues, he is terrible when it comes to writing about women’s issues. I can’t think of 1 Spike Lee movie that had a positive female character. She’s Gotta Have It, isn’t it.I had high hopes for his Lysistrata remake but he fell into the same misogynistic traps he always has.
