Since Showtime is a pay-for-view cable channel, the execs aren’t tied to the ratings like regular commercial channels. However, they still have to run programs that will keep viewers subscribed. Which of their shows will be cancelled or renewed? We’ll have to wait and see.

Showtime execs look at lots of data when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series. The ratings for initial airings don’t play as large a role as they do on commercial stations, but they still indicate how popular a show is. Here’s an updated listing of Showtime’s recent/current primetime scripted shows.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released (usually a day or so after the broadcasts). The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
The demo numbers, which are typically most important to the broadcast networks, aren’t quite as vital to cable channels because their audiences are usually much smaller. Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?

No WEEDS? No L WORD? No UNITED STATES OF TARA? Who made this list?
Those shows have been off the air for 3+ years.
I don’t care about any of these shows, but WEB THERAPY. Give me MORE WEB THERAPY!!! It’s BRILLIANT!!!
Shameless, Episodes and Ray Donovan are amazing shows! Hated to lose dexter and californication!,
Pennu dreadful is fantastic. Please renew it!!!
I agree we should start a petition on instagram
Ray Donovan/Shameless are awesome…..1st season Homeland and House of Lies was awesome…steady going downhill however…
Shameless and Episodes are why I love Showtime. Finally forgave them for not renewing Dead Like Me for a third season. The Dead movies weren’t that good, but I enjoyedthem.
Also enjoy Ray, House, and Homeland. I’m watching more Showtime originals than Hbo. Game of Thrones is still the best show on TV. Pay channels are killing the networks.
Episodes is the best thing on this network. I wouldn’t bother with Showtime if it didn’t have it. This poor show just gets never gets any mention but it deserves so much more attention for it’s quality of comedy. It did waver a bit for a season there, but season 4 was SO much better. Back on top form. From Kathleen Perkins & Andrea Savage’s chemistry, to Matt Leblanc’s timing, to the writing, to the character development, to the fresher feeling of the season, it just all worked again. What an overlooked and underrated show. The Affair was fairly decent…… Read more »
Shameless needs to go. Why is it still on?
Shameless is the 2nd best show on Showtime, please don’t knock it!
Because, not only is it the greatest show ever made, it’s the highest rated show on the network. #dontlikedontwatch
House of Lies needs to go. Last season it was great. So far this season it’s boring and sucks. Last season I loved all the characters, now I can’t stand any of them. It used to be funny as hell, now it’s a dried up uninteresting drama. This is a total waste of time to watch, and waste of electricity recording it.
With hit shows like Shameless, Ray Donovan, and Penny Dreadful just to name a few, it won’t be missed.
Absolutely the best tv series are on SHOWTIME –
MASTERS OF SEX and RAY DONOVAN – 5 stars from me – THE AFFAIR -4 stars.
I find “Masters of Sex” very interesting. It’s very juicy because it’s set in the 50’s and 60’s just before the sexual revolution. I loved seeing the vintage toys that they used in Season 1…so glad Showtime renewed their second season!
I just realized that I watched all of the shows on the list except “Episodes” , “Homeland” and “Web Therapy”. If Showtime ever cancels Shameless, I will cancel my subscription.
RAY DOOVAN is SUPERB…one of the FEW reasons I subscribe; he goes so does my subsdcription in 2015
