TV show description:
This fantasy series follows the adventures of Sinbad, the legendary fictional character.
After Sinbad (Elliot Knight) accidentally kills the son of powerful Lord Akbari (Naveen Andrews), he is forced to flee from his home town of Basra. Thanks to a curse, he’s unable to be on dry land for more than a day so Sinbad travels the world to find a cure.
On board his ship, The Providence, an intriguing band of travelers is thrown together. They include taciturn Norwegian sailor Gunnar, the lithe and agile jewel-thief Rina (Marama Corlett), and haughty and aristocratic Nala (Estella Daniels). Completing the ship’s complement is the odd-ball cook and the cerebral doctor Anwar (Dimitri Leonidas).
While Sinbad sails the high seas, he’s unknowingly being hunted by Lord Akbari who’s determined to exact revenge for his son’s death.
Episode #12 – Land of the Dead
On their way to the Land of the Dead, flashbacks reveal Taryn’s motive in finding the lost city; to recover her daughter Alehna (Evanna Lynch).
The Providence arrives at the land after being caught by a whirlpool. The crew enter an abandoned underground city, where Sinbad discovers the area is patrolled by gigantic Guardians, one of which latches on to him. Meanwhile, Gunnar realises Tiger’s strange behaviour, and manages to separate her and Taryn. He then finds Sinbad and manages to break the Guardian’s hold on him.
However his consciousness is trapped in a limbo-like state, where he encounters his crew mates who have no recollection of him, even Jamil. Taryn manages to send him back to life. She reveals that Sinbad is both alive and dead in the Land, and is the only person who can make his way to the city. The crew find Jamil, and they go into hiding until the Guardians calm down.
Taryn also finds Alehna in a library, who reveals that Sinbad previously went to the land as an infant before his father freed him. As hounds surround the library, Anwar finds a hidden exit. However, to ensure the group’s escape, Jamil sacrifices himself to a Guardian.
At the group feast, Anwar convinces Sinbad to continue. As he says goodbye to his brother, it is revealed that Alehna is possessed by some form of darkness.
First aired: August 3, 2013.
(Note: the show had already been cancelled by Sky before it started on Syfy.)
What do you think? Do you like the Sinbad TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Bring Sinbad BACK!
Before the network even gave Sinbad series a chance it was cancelled. I think the network that produced the show should try and give it a second chance, the cast of the show were and are great actors. Syfy has some stupid tv progams with bad special effects and bad actors, but Sinbad was not one of them. I rather watch something well written and produced then the garbage that is out there. There is so many ideas for the Sinbad series I just don’t understand it. BRING THE SERIES BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sinbad was so great I loved watching this series I was so mad when I researched it and found that it would be cancelled I agree it was a lot like merlin and merlin was one of my favorite TV shows ever I wish they would make more TV shows like this with nothing raunchy or explicit in them just good old fighting and escaping I loved the creativity and fantasy about it I am so mad they cancelled Sinbad.
Loved this show have been waiting for season two
I loved the series-I hope it comes back
why is it all the good shows are the ones that they cancelled and the shows that are stupid or have bad acting or bad special effects. I mean really what is the deal Syfy used to produce really good sci fi shows or fantasy show now they’re making all these reality shows any other shows and movies like Chardonnay to have horrible acting and horrible special effects and are just silly they’re not good come on send that had the quality to be a really good long running show it coulda went up against shows like Stargate and Merlin… Read more »
The Sinbad series was awesome, not only did it have a stellar cast; but the locales it was shot at were fabulous. I really thought it was coming back. BRING IT BACK PLEASE!!!
I loved this series. I watched Merlin to the end. I would had watched this as well. I no longer have a reason to watch syfy. Let me know if you ever change your mind. I watch Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time In Wonderland, Sleepy Hollow, Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Please get something awesome like this so I can return to SyFy before you are gone. I will even help you make some awesome show just e-mail me. TY
LOVED this show! Please bring it back!!
really liked this show! very disappointed to read it was cancelled. everyone in my family thought it was great. please bring it back syfy! and more sharknado too!
renew please, sick to death of reality shows.
Show was imaginative and interesting unlike sooooo many of the reality crappers on air today. TV networks need to “clean house” and do a major overhaul to get rid of the mountains of junk being shown and bring shows like this back.
No Sinbad should not have been cancelled, it should of been renewed.
The networks want to run reality show which
to me is nothing but garbage. Sinbad was a very
well written show and the cast was great.
There are plenty of story lines for Sinbad.
Sorry but the lead was seriously miscast and the scripts were full of holes. All the actors were turning in really good performances though.
…the heck!! Who decided cancel this!! I had a tradition of getting an snickers ice cream bar and kicking back and watching Sinbad. This is better than any typical ghost hunting or vampire show. There was nothing like this on tv. The show was so much fun to watch. A great escape. Renew!!!!
