During tonight’s live season finale, judge and co-creator Nigel Lythgoe announced that So You Think You Can Dance has been renewed for an 11th season which will air next summer. He noted that he’d received the good news from FOX just five minutes before going on the air.
Tonight’s live episode is being split into two parts — airing from 8-9pm and then from 9:30-10pm — due to the President’s address.
The program has been airing just once a week this season and has continued to slide in the ratings. Last summer averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.47 million total viewers. To date, this season’s been averaging a 1.6 rating with 4.47 million.
FOX hasn’t made an official announcement yet but one is expected to be be forthcoming. It’s also expected that the series will continue to air just once a week.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the series? Do you prefer one or two episodes a week?
I HAVE WATCHED EVERY SEASON. BEST SHOW ON TV. YOU GET
TO SEE THE DANCERS EVOLVE.
Can hardly wait for the new season to begin! To me, this is definitely a 5 star show!
I love the show and I had several girlfriends coming over to my house to watch…We (all six of us) would love to see it 2 times a week. It seems that just as it gets interesting they change the day or time and we have to hunt for it…Please bring it back for all of us that LOVE to dance and watch new talent.
Dumbest show ever made.
