What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the ABC television network, Speechless follows Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver) and her family. A no-nonsense mom, Maya will do anything for her loved ones. She’s always fighting against injustices — both real and imagined. She and husband Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) are parents to brainy Ray (Mason Cook), athletic Dylan (Kyla Kennedy), and teenager JJ (Micah Fowler), who has cerebral palsy. Moving to an upscale school district, Maya needs to find the right person to give JJ his “voice” and finds that the school’s groundskeeper, Kenneth (Cedric Yarbrough), is the man for the job.

On May 12, 2017., Speechless was renewed for a second season.
Season two will debut on September 27, 2017 at 8:30pm.

Telly’s Take
Speechless has performed well in its first season on ABC and the network gave it a full season order. Back in December, the freshman sitcom received an order for an additional episode. As long as it maintains its ratings, fans shouldn’t worry about it being cancelled. Unless the numbers drop significantly, I expect ABC will renew Speechless for season two. A handful of The Alphabet Network’s scripted dramas seem more likely to end up in my craw.

Speechless is a wonderful show, putting a voice to CP is a brilliant idea. What’s more is showing a complete family being as normal a as possible is truly tremendous. That is how my husband’s family did it when he became a paraplegic at the age of 4. Nothing can stop you if you believe you can! Speechless is an empowering show, changing the “look” of the disabled. Please renew Speechless!

ABC, don’t you dare cancel “Speechless”! I love this show! It’s one of the few TV comedies being made today that’s genuinely funny. Not only is it made with warmth, wit and humor (and a refreshing absence of sex and bathroom jokes), as someone who’s made his living for over three decades as a caregiver for people with disabilities I love the way the writers have characterized J. Renew! It is a wonderful show for all families, those with the abled and those with challenges!
Renew! Having a child myself with a disability this show shows my life! It’s so nice to laugh about it sometimes and we do. Speechless hits on so many true facts in our every day life with a son that is disabled. Thank you for this! So refreshing for once. Love the acting.
