Why were Star and Lethal Weapon cancelled? Recently, FOX boss Charlie Collier discussed the network’s decision to end both TV shows after three seasons, Deadline reports.
A drama series, Star follows the story of three talented young female singers and their rise to fame. The cast includes Queen Latifah, Brandy Norwood, Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady. Meanwhile, Lethal Weapon is a series adaptation of the film franchise and stars Damon Wayans and Seann William Scott as two very different kinds of detectives who are paired together by the LAPD.
During FOX‘s upfronts, Collier explained the network’s decision to cancel both Lethal Weapon and Star. For the latter, Collier said it was a matter of prioritizing Empire:
We looked at our priorities and were trying to prioritize giving Empire the send-off it deserves. The move [of Empire] to 9pm, made it a challenge because Star was always the lead-out from Empire and obviously we don’t have the 10pm hour, so it was another tough choice in a year where we were prioritizing Empire and obviously some of the other shows that we’ve put on the schedule.”
Meanwhile, Lethal Weapon was always on the edge of cancellation. This season, Seann William Scott joined the cast after Clayne Crawford was fired by FOX. Then, Damon Wayans announced he was leaving the series only to sign on for more episodes. Given the show’s declining ratings, Collier said Lethal Weapon “was unfortunately on the other side (of the bubble).”

Really disappointed I like STAR way better than Empire it’s a huge mistake canceling it. Hopefully they find a way to keep it on it’s a shame to see it go so soon will not be watching FOX for any other shows

I loved both of these shows. It is to bad because I looked forward to watching them especially Lethal Weapon. I was sad to see Chace Crawford go because he was my favorite character and then his replacement came and he was great, loved it as though nothing had changed You need to find a place for them to come back on. I can’t believe some of the shows that are still on in place of them. Please find a way to bring them back. Don’t like cliffhangers.
It’s a shame another Disney merger now shows get cancelled star wouldn’t effect empire at all and lethal weapon I believe Damon wanted a break anyway I hope another network picks up the shows
Really sad to hear Star was canceled I will truly miss this show. I really think dropping it will be a big mistake. After Empire goes off I will not watch Fox on Wednesday’s.
I don’t want Star to be cancelled!!!! Its a really well written show better than Empire which I don’t look at since Season 2! Please don’t cancel this show!

I love Star and Lethal Weapon. 2 shows that I always look forward to watching. Please find a new home for both these shows.
Another thing that’s upsetting is that there is only 1 more season of Empire.
At least fox is giving a proper send off and the fans will have closure, unlike Star. We are left with a cliffhanger. Unfair to the fans that have been watching faithfully since the series premiere.

I am truly sadden by this news. One of my favorite shows! Your casting was excellent and your story lines kept me coming back for more. You all had an amazing gift to touch on many of my emotions adding humor, suspense, compassion. I want to strike! Thank you all for all your hard work! Please bring it back! This show kept me watching. I don’t even watch Empire and will not.
Yes I would have kept watching Lethal Weapon it was a great show I’m tried of networks canceling everything before giving them a chance but they keep the stupid stuff
Lethal Weapon was one of my favourite shows. I’m disappointed that the station has cancelled it. I was losing interest in Star. I thought it would be cancelled.
You took off Star and it is better then Empire. I wanted season 4 to find out what happened a to stars a baby
I would have kept watching Lethal Weapon. It was a great show.
Well typical for the Wayne brothers to trash things. He ran Crawford out and then announces he is leaving too. Killed the show and BTW it’s an awesome show. Bring Crawford back recast Wayne’s character and make more.
That’s not what happened. Warner Bros fired CC because of his behavior yelling and cursing on set. He had to be reprimanded twice. Doesn’t anybody get it. DW had nothing to do with his firing. When DW posted what he did, that was long after he got fired.
