For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo. If you’re betting folding dollars in the cancellation stakes, bet on this: ABC’s Still Star-Crossed will be cancelled after one season, with no season two. Tonight, Deadline reports that after three largely unwatched episodes, the Alphabet Network is moving Still Star-Crossed from its post-Bachelorette Monday evening timeslot, to Saturdays.
A diverse Shondaland TV series airing on the ABC television network, Still Star-Crossed stars: Grant Bowler, Wade Briggs, Torrance Coombs, Dan Hildebrand, Lashana Lynch, Ebonee Noel, Medalion Rahimi, Zuleikha Robinson, Sterling Sulieman, Susan Wooldridge, Anthony Head, Caspar, Carl Chambers, Greg Chillen, Shazad Latif, Clara Rugaard, and Lucien Laviscount. The Romeo and Juliet sequel series features the bloodshed and palace intrigue overwhelming fair Verona, in the aftermath of the tragic deaths of Romeo (Laviscount) and Juliet (Rugaard).
Here is more, from Deadline:
Shondaland’s Still Star-Crossed‘s Monday run is over after three low-rated outings. Starting this coming week, the Romeo & Juliet sequel no longer will air in its assigned Monday time slot. After a break, the ABC series will continue its freshman run on July 8, airing on Saturdays.
The scheduling downgrade is a clear sign that the medieval drama won’t go beyond its first season. Still Star-Crossed is expected to get a de facto cancellation next week when the options on the cast expire.
Still Star-Crossed: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Still Star-Crossed is averaging a 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.96 million viewers. Find out how Still Star-Crossed stacks up against other ABC TV shows.
My bet is that ABC hoped this Shondaland series had wings, but mid-way into production, realized it did not. I can’t “know” that, but I believe it to be the truth.
What do you think? Are you still watching the Still Star-Crossed TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Let us know, below.
I really liked this drama. I appreciated the ethnic diversity of characters that was evident in this TV show. Give Diversity a chance to work! The actors are excellent and very talented. The riveting story between these two families during medieval times, was captivating to watch as a TV drama. Again, Give Diversity a chance to work regardless of the ratings. Bring this remarkable show back for another season. THANK YOU ABC !
All the crappy shows on tv and they choose to cancel this show?! I hope they bring it back or at least shop it to a cable network cause primetime won’t work for this show.
I truly became a fan of this show instantly. I love the drama and suspense. It makes me question EVERYDAY ‘when is the next episode’? I agree if someone doesnt pick up this show I’ll be forced to just be a netflix watcher. Deep down inside I loved scheduling my nights around my favorite TV shows. I LOVE THIS SHOW, so wherever it goes I’ll follow. When it gets cancelled, so is ABC, in my book. They need more diverse shows like this one.
I enjoyed the show – plenty of action and scenery! Funny how a reality show can beat out shows’ full of actors. Hopefully, some other channel will pick it up for Season 2.
Please bring it back!!!!
I loved watching the story line for Romeo and Juliet. It was really cool to watch. I am bummed out that is cancelled for the 2nd season. I hope they change their minds and bring it back.
I LOOOOVVVEEE this show ! It is unlike any show that ABC has ! Don’t get my wrong I love the family comedies but if you cancel it you can kiss a viewer goodbye ! I think it is perfectly written and always grabbing me by surprise ! It consumes my mind until the next episode and 7 episodes was just too little !
I LOVE this show and would hate to see it go. First of all , I love a good period show and this one exceeds the mark. The actors are brilliant, I love the way they’ve continued the story of Romeo and Juliet’s family, and the costumes are amazing! With so many daft reality shows on the air, it’s finally good to see a smart show based off a classic tale. It’s worth watching. Please renew this show.
Just finished watching still star-crossed and loved this episode!! I hope they will renew for next season!
They won’t renew the series. They don’t care that people who actually enjoyed the show would want a 2nd season. All they care about is ratings. And Still Star-crossed had low ratings. I loved the show too and so did my mom.
This us great Show. Maybe ABC put it t on at wrong time. Summer is when most everyone is doing vacations, concerts, anything to be away from home. Bad timing but an Awesome show. Maybe Cable can pick it up. Hope so. Poor Torrance can’t catch a break!
My the spring or fall season would’ve done better
This show is more enjoyable than alot of other shows. I’d really hate to see it go
I really liked this show and looked forward to it coming on each time. Please don’t cancel.
