TV show description:
A music business drama, the Sun Records TV show unfolds in Memphis, Tennessee, during the first turbulent years of the Civil Rights movement and the birth of rock ‘n’ roll.
Sam Phillips (Chad Michael Murray), shepherds young musicians Johnny Cash (Kevin Fonteyne), Elvis Presley (Drake Milligan), Carl Perkins (Dustin Ingram) and Jerry Lee Lewis (Christian Lees). These up-and-coming white musicians combine hillbilly country music, with the ’50s R&B sound of African American artists.
Drawing on the seminal works of Muddy Waters, B.B. King (Castro Coleman), Fats Domino, and Ike Turner (Kerry D. Holliday), these artists made musical history. The series documents them, as they rocket to fame. Meanwhile, the nation is swept up by political changes and protests.
Series Finale:
Episode #8; “Finishing School”
First aired: April 13, 2018
Colonel Tom Parker (Gardell) presses to take over Elvis’ career, but Sam struggles with the decision to let his star go. Jerry Lee’s philandering catches up with him, and Johnny Cash (Fonteyne) starts his own band. (Courtesy CMT.)
What do you think? Do you watch the Sun Records TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for another season on CMT?
I looked forward to watching this show every week. It was the best show on and the actors were excellent. Go figure, they always cancel the best shows that have some substance and a story to tell. What a shame.
I love this show. The actors are great! If CMT will not renew, I hope another network will pick it up.
Sun Records is one of my #1 favorite tv shows. I always looked forward for Thursday night coming around. I loved the whole cast in this show. It is so refreshing to see knew faces and not know who they are. They are so talented.
Please do not cancel the Sun Records TV show. There is such a history to be told.
We never watch a show on CMT until Sun Records came on. We turned in every week and couldn’t wait for next weeks show. To cancel it without notice was such a let down. I won’t watch CMT anymore if that’s the way you operate. It was a good show. Hopefully another network will pick it up.
i agree completley
I am so sad! I was enjoying this show so much and it seemed like it was about to take off. Please reconsider!
It was a series worth watching, if you are going to cancel the good shows there is no point in my wife and I watching CMT !
I love the show! Please don’t cancel!!!!!!
This show had the makings of something special. Just as we (the viewers) got invested in the characters, news comes that there will be no season 2. Please reconsider cancellation. There is much left to be told in this story!
I like the show. If there was more music I would love It. Please renew.
I like show. If there was more music I would love it. Please renew
Sun records is a really good show. Would love to see more.
Please renew this show .You started something great with this show .please don’t just drop it
You can’t be serious. How do you end the show before the story is all told. We need a recount on this vote.
Please renew this show! It was one of the best and renewed people’s interest in the greats. This also has introduced the rich heritage of the blues and rock n roll.
cmt you are making a big mistake that is the best program on tv..zombies reality tv ..this one beats out any of that..you cater to teenagers..and its about the ones that grew up wataching elvis and johnny cash and all the oldies..we are still alive and love this and our ratings should count too..50 to 80 watches more tv than the younger folks..keep the dang show on..
