The CW has been having some great success with DC Comics superhero shows. Now, CBS has gotten into the game with their own entry — Supergirl. While Arrow and The Flash fit well with rest of The CW’s programming, Supergirl seems out of place on CBS, a network known for older-skewing procedurals. Will the new series soar in the ratings or will it crash? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Supergirl revolves around Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). As a girl, she survived Krypton’s destruction by being sent to Earth where she was raised as a human. She kept her powers a secret and now, as an adult, works as an assistant at a big city media conglomerate. Kara’s existence becomes known to the world and she is enlisted by a super-secret agency to help protect the citizens from evil forces as Supergirl. The rest of the cast includes Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood, and Jeremy Jordan.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: Supergirl has been renewed for a second season but is moving to The CW.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Supergirl TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love it! Please keep it going! Better than The Flash. More full of heart. Less gloom and doom-y. And the feminist remarks r dying down, which is a good sign. No need to throw it in ur face. Keep it going please!
Love, love, love this show!! I’m in the 18-49 demo and I am hoping they renew this show for next season!
Supergirl awesome show great mix of supernatural characters
Awesome show – great mix of supernatural action with friends and family relationships. Some chuckles, some sentimental parts and plenty of fun action. Melissa Benoist is wonderful. Give the show a chance – RENEW!!!
When I’m in denver that is all my grandson likes to watch
They’re running out of ideas. Cancel.
Supergirl is a great tv show for the family as well my grandson watches the tv show and they have a excellent cast
Keep Supergirl – it’s a good family show. Its’ one of the few times our kids and us gather together to watch a night of tv together – we need more good, clean family shows.
Good, clean family shows are ruining comic to TV interpretations. So glad Marvel is going the rated-r route lately and not catering to kids directly.
I. record supergirl so I could bypassing the parts
THAT is boring
So you by pass about 40 minutes of it.
Love this show, it definitely needs a Season #2…..thank you CBS for giving us a show that dads can watch with their daughters, strong values, strong message for young girls.
Supergirl is great for cbs and the family
Who would have thought that an preachy SJW show like Supergirl would alienate most normal people and despite the huge marketing and budget it would have mediocre at best ratings? Well, I would.
The show is gonna be renewed because corporate media still need to spread identity politics propaganda, victimization mentality and hate to keep the middle class divided but it most probably won’t make it past season 2.
Hahaha…you’re such a television marketing genius. This show is not only getting renewed but plan on seeing it advertised for a long time, regardless of what CBS does with it. The CW will be more than happy to find a spot on it’s schedule for Supergirl and it’s 7-8 million viewers.
Interesting that you call Supergirl series a “preachy SJW” ,show. You do know that Arrow, The Flash and DC Legends of Tomorrow is just as Preachy and SJW you are complaining about yes??
Or are you just bellyaching about it because the series is centered in a girl??U
Supergirl is great great show CBS needs to renew it for another season everybody that I know watches it from my grandson all the way up to me who is 50 years old it affects all ages and everybody loves it we always look forward to it watching it on Monday night
The writing and dialogue is horrible here’s s dollar buy a clue this show is garbage
Nobody is forcing you to watch. Change the channel…..”Clyde”. There are literally millions of people who “don’t care what you think”.
The last few episodes of Supergirl have been great
