TV show description:
Based on the Broadway play by Tracy Letts, this comedy TV series revolves around a business owner, his friends, and a changing world.
Arthur Przybyszewski (Judd Hirsch) is the no-nonsense owner of a small donut shop, Superior Donuts, that’s located in a quickly changing neighborhood in Chicago. He’s a gruff guy who doesn’t like change and refuses to sell newfangled cronuts and macchiatos or, renovate his dated shop that hasn’t changed since it opened in 1969.
His world changes when an enterprising go-getter named Franco Wicks (Jermaine Fowler) fast talks his way into Arthur’s life and becomes his only employee. Franco convinces Arthur that he can bring the shop and its irritable owner into the 21st century.
Though he doesn’t like change, Arthur realizes his business in jeopardy. He grudgingly realizes that he had better embrace the change around him and that Franco could be exactly what he and his donut shop need to survive.
Thankfully for Arthur, he does have a collection of supportive and loyal regular patrons. Officer Randy DeLuca (Katey Sagal) is a cop whose late father was also Arthur’s best friend. Her overeager rookie partner is Office James Jordan (Darien Sills-Evans). Carl ‘Tush’ Tushinski (David Koechner) uses the shop counter as a makeshift office so he can keep tabs on a variety of odd jobs via the shop’s fax machine.
Maya (Anna Baryshnikov) is a privileged grad-school student who’s working on her degree. Sweatpants (Rell Battle) is Franco’s longtime friend who’s willing to dress as a donut to help drum up more business.
Looking to cash in on the urban renewal is Arthur’s over-caffeinated neighbor, Fawz (Maz Jobrani). He’s an aspiring real estate capitalist who pushes Arthur on a daily basis to sell the building to him.
Episode #34 — Donut Day Afternoon
An armed robbery at the donut shop prompts Arthur, Franco and Sofia to make life-changing decisions about their futures.
First aired: May 14, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like the Superior Donuts TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Really liked the show and looked forward for the new season
Not a fan of the show. I don’t feel it’s funny at all.
I really enjoyed the show! Good for the entire family.
This show is an embarrassment for a decent actor like Judd Hirsch…I felt bad and embarrassed FOR him!!
it was a nice show that I like to watch , every Sunday, I enjoyed watching the guy from taxi again , hope they bring it back, miss it
I really like this show. Been watching since it started. It’s like Cheers, but in a donut shop. It should be renewed. I’d like to see where the writers go with it.
I love this show I never miss it because I record it for backup. I hope it last a very long time. I wish more people would give it a chance I think it could be very popular.
Mostly enjoyable, but did real disservice to public in Illinois regarding the facts of work related injuries…no drug test is required by law…only certain employers do that.
This show is terrible. Is it on the air for entertainment or is it being aired to push an agenda? Either way, it should be canceled
This show is terrible. Actors are fine but dialogue and subject matter is lame. If you want to view your political babble go to NBC news. What happened to fun comedy and no political garbage. It’s everywhere and you will lose audiences.
This was the worst pilot episode I have ever seen. The show is a collection of two dimensional characters and awful writing. The Iranian businessman trying to buy the shop from Judd Hirsch’s character actually made jokes about terrorists and mustard gas! You have the gruff donut shop owner, his minority employee seeking a father figure and the show trying to jam the whole arc of the series into the first episode. Katie Sagal is utterly wasted here and Judd Hirsch proves that life without Glen and Les Charles writing for him just isn’t worth living. The blonde hiding behind… Read more »
I came here looking for more episodes. I liked the 1st episode and wanted to see more.
This show should be put out of its misery- Its BAAAD
Seriously not funny. Overacted. Bad writing. Has a “new night” already. Ca you say “doomed”? Hollywood has lost it completely if this is considered “good enough to make it to air”. Ugh.
I really liked this pilot. Although the actress Anna Baryshnikov is good, I don’t think she needs to sit in short skirts in the middle of almost every scene, it kinda looked like a subliminal attempt to keep men watching? (yes I watched lol)
I noticed an amateur edit where Jermaine was holding his paintbrush and then immediately wasn’t. Other than that? Judd Hirsch and Katey Sagal are still top notch actors (no surprise there)…I would become a fan…best of luck guys !
Not attacking you but just a point of information on the term amateur edit, it’s called continuity. they are supposed to have people with their own cameras and notation boards keeping track, but when you are filming a half-hour show in front of an audience, everything is go-go-go and if you blink, you miss something. Every once in a while you will see big “reveals” on big movies that show mistakes. For instance I believe Gandalf was wearing a wrist watch in Lord of the Rings.
