Superstore is open for business once more. NBC has renewed their workplace comedy for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The season one finale just aired last night.
Created by Justin Spitzer, Superstore stars America Ferrera and Ben Feldman as employees of a big box store called Cloud 9. Season one of the sitcom did fairly well in the ratings, earning around five million viewers per episode.
Earlier this week, we posted an interview with Spitzer about his hopes and plans for season two. The creator said season two could feature more guest stars.
Season two will feature at least 13 episodes, set to premiere later this year.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Feb. 23, 2016 – Attention Cloud 9 shoppers: NBC’s Monday night comedy hit “Superstore” has been renewed for a second season.
The announcement was made by Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment.
“We’re thrilled to renew a show that’s incredibly funny and relatable, full of great characters brought to life by this incredible cast, writers and producers,” Salke said. “After such a successful first season, we look forward to seeing more of the wonderful America Ferrera, Ben Feldman and the rest of this hilarious cast in season two.”
Season to date, “Superstore” is averaging a 2.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.9 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” results from Nielsen Media Research, making it NBC’s highest rated first-year comedy in two years. So far this season, “Superstore” is topping eight of the 10 other first-year comedies on the Big 4 networks in both adults 18-49 and total viewers.
“Superstore” also delivers a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 112 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, “most current” including L+3).
“Superstore,” which has received strong reviews for its laugh-out-loud stories about life behind the scenes of a big box retail megastore, features a cast that has been praised for its on-screen chemistry.
“Superstore” centers around Amy (America Ferrera), the megastore’s most stalwart employee as well as the glue holding the place together, and newly hired Jonah (Ben Feldman), a naive dreamer determined to prove work doesn’t have to be boring. Their fellow associates include the sardonic Garrett (Colton Dunn), the ambitious Mateo (Nico Santos) and the sweet pregnant teenager, Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom). Overseeing them all are Glenn (Mark McKinney), the store’s affable, clueless store manager, and Dina (Lauren Ash), the aggressive assistant manager who lives by a very specific code – namely the store’s employee handbook.
From the bright-eyed newbies and the seen-it-all veterans to the clueless summer hires and the in-it-for-life managers, together they hilariously tackle the day-to-day grind of rabid bargain hunters, riot-causing sales and nap-worthy training sessions.
“Superstore” was created and written by Justin Spitzer, who also serves as an executive producer with director Ruben Fleischer, David Bernad and Gabe Miller & Jonathan Green. “Superstore” is produced by Universal Television, Spitzer Holding Company and The District.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Superstore? Did you watch the season one finale last night? What do you hope happens in season two?
Great Show!!!!! Love every episode
Love this show! When does the “new”season begin?
Love the show/refreshingly clean and still funny. I guess TV can still make something decent once in a while
This was such an entertaining show from the very first “preview” episode we had watched, all the way through the very last episode. I am so thrilled that it has rightfully been renewed! Great writing and actors, very much like the early years of The Office!
I love this show. I work retail and let’s just say I can relate to a lot of stuff they do. This so freaking funny. Looking forward to season 2
It’s a great show and I look forward to the next season. Love the laugh out loud moments. Haven’t seen a show like this that has drawn me in in a long time. Keep it up!!
I was not thinking I would like this the SuperStore SItcom but after watching all the epidoes I am hooked. This is how big companies seem to work Looking forward to the next one after the walk out.
my family and I watch this show! my wife was upset because we finished the first season in one night and she was expecting to roll right into watching the second season only to find out that there is no second season, yet. we all were disappointed and went to bed a little disappointed.
Love this show so much!! Dina is the BEST !!!
Being a current employee of a similar type store, I have to say that superstore is freaking awesome! I have personally encountered several of the hilarious situations shown. This is my new fave show, and I don’t normally watch comedy. I agree with a previous comment: they HAVE to do an episode on black Friday (or grey Thursday, as my coworkers like to call it).
So glad Superstore will be back!
Like the show a lot
Awesome. Well deserved. This is one of the funniest shows since The Office (no laugh tracks!!!)
Having worked for almost 20 years at a Walmart Supercenter this show is so relatable and I get a kick out of how spot on these characters and scenarios are. Thankfully it’s another season of fun I can’t wait for.
I love this show and it is very relatable. I have seen more than my share of weird and funny things at WalMart through the years. Be sure to do a show on Black Friday.
A black Friday episode would be totally epic!
